EGW optic mount for Ruger P-series
Well made and easy to install with proper guns smithing tools. No other optic mounting options available for Ruger P-series or MK handguns. Gave it 4 stars for sturdiness comparing it to direct mount/cut slide. Pending range trip to test ability to maintain zero. Overall, I’m very satisfied and recommend it.

VERY tight fit on a Ruger P85
This is a very good mount but you will need to do a little Gunsmith work on it if you install it on a Ruger P85.As it comes you will need to sand the V mount area on the mount down some or you will never get it into the V channel of the P85 gun (WAY TO TIGHT OF A FIT on a P85!)Once sanded down to the right fit this is a GREAT mount. When sanding take very little off at a time, try the fit and if still to tight sand a little more, do not take anymore then you need to make it a snug fit.

Customer service sucks
None worked as advertised and they never sent the replacement

Great company that stands behind their products.
Was able to convert iron sights to a green dot optic using the dovetail cut outs.

As advertised.
Could be a little closer to the receiver in the MK series & 22/45 pistols but the extra clearance was probably necessary to make it fit other Ruger pistols. The included red dot mounting screws are not long enough for the Leica Tempus ASPH which utilizes the Doctor/Noblex red dot foot print!

Works as described
Fit great on a Ruger mk2 with the vortex venom

Its the only available for Ruger I do believe.
Not easily mounted. One sight pusher I bought for the job wasn't up for the task. It damaged the mount due to pressures being too high. I've ordered a new mount from same company and different sight tool so I'll try again. I tried everything short of filing and polishing to get this into a Ruger P90 to no avail. Also, their YT channel says the mount should be drifted left to right. Ruger says right to left to mount. Am I missing something? Did I just wedge the damaged sight in (and heaven only knows when it'll come out) because somehow this was made to do the opposite of the manufacturers instructions?

Other Ruger mounts exist but low accessory options is a Ruger norm. Not sure quality comparison.
More options for Ruger handguns are available,However, if you haven’t used a red dot on your pistol before I would say that saving some $$ to try it out & make sure it is a good fit for you. If your cross dominant red dots on a pistol provide a significant improvement with accuracy and sight acquisition. The unlimited eye relief and absent parallax variables provide a more cross dominant friendly design. It is also easier when shooting off hand if your comfortable with just trusting the dot & not over thinking it. Many new handgun with red dot owners struggle with is letting go of the need to treat it like iron sights, and the lining up of your irons. The mounting adapter footprint is the part your going also going to want to keep in mind the sight footprint that it matches where sight screws connect to whatever mount type using. When it comes to footprints some are really specific others are used by a large number of manufacturers. For example 2 out of 3 vortex red dots use the same footprint as Burris fast fire II &III and a lot of other sights truglo tru-tec all use the same mounting footprint. It’s one of the most common.Burris makes a fast fire mounting adapter for Ruger American and I believe the majority of models made in the last few years.I have found a few other options with different quality levels, you will have an easier time & less chance of damaging if you have a sight alignment tool for handgun iron sights. I would still like to have Ruger put out replacement slides similar to the p-Max, or find a good place to order a custom slide from a 3rd party. Similar to some models by FN and M&P the P-Max has the option for mounting a red dot built in & with a proper sized option you get the co-witness of your irons. The limited options for Ruger accessories are one of the only negatives of being a Ruger fan. Not just handguns but rifles as well, you can find a plethora of Remington 700 upgrades and accessories but Ruger had one or two.If your a long time pistol shooter and have never used a reflex sight on your handgun before, a lot of people can’t stand them. I have found the best way to help others get past the iron site process and trust the dot is doing speed drills & set targets between 5-7yrd. The speed helps stops the muscle memory or over thinking process of lining your rear and front sites up. The distance is closer because the goal is to learn to just trust the optic once you have zeroed it & push past the technique required with irons.
