Good lightweight companion
Great device for the price. I use it everyday from simple browser tasks to managing websites. There’s a handy built in option to add a Linux distro alongside chrome OS which works within the Chromes OS, so no need swap in and out of operating systems. Installing the Linux distro is simple and allows you to use software that otherwise wouldn’t be available on Chrome OS, like FileZilla, VS Code, GIMP, Krita, Blender and ton of others. The screen is a bit poor at certain angles but just adjust the screen angle and you’re sorted. If you’re doing anything too heavy the 4gb may struggle but overall a great option as a lightweight companion when you don’t want to use your main workstation.

Great for students.
Came quickly. I love, but am slightly scared by being able to log into my life on Google with one login. It's like it's always been my laptop. The battery life is amazing, I think I've charged it twice in five days. I'm a writing student and I needed a fast computer that's light with good battery life. This ticks all my boxes.Update: For some reason, the WIFI keeps turning off and not recognising my home network. This happened, I did a factory reset and the problem sorted itself out. Then it happened again and I called tech support who did help but the problem randomly righted itself again! Now it's happened a third time and I'm sending it for repair. The tech guy told me there may be a problem with the inner hardware, which seems right. Not happy, I bought this specifically for my Creative Writing degree, can't write much on it at the moment... Will update again.Update followup: Chromebook sent for repair and was returned, still not working! Amazon replaced with a new Chromebook without question (my return window expired while it was off for repair - great customer service) and this new one is perfect. For how long, I don't know. I hope it's fine from now on. I hope that these shenanigans were isolated.Update final followup: The new computer is great, no problems at all (fingers crossed). No disconnecting from the internet - that did seem to be the only problem. Clearly I received a faulty model. Amazon were fantastic and replaced it without argument. I'm happy. I'm glad it got sorted before the pandemic got really bad...

Simple and reliable
Bought for my mother as something simple and reliable to use for messaging and internet browsing from her armchair. Seems to do the job very well as she’s very happy with it and has no difficulties at al.

Very no nonsense
[Caveat, very rare use case]I'm a developer and instantly installed linux. Its great, somehow Vim is faster on this then my high end Macbook. Viewing angles and screen are bad but good for the price. Great for simple coding and very portable and easy to throw in a bag and not worry about

Buyer beware - The warranty on this product does not stand!!
Our Asus google chromebook laptop is less than a year old and has stopped charging. Asus quickly arranged for it to be taken to their official repair centre 'Let Me Repair UK' in East Kilbride. Now the repair centre is telling us that they will not repair it under the warranty due to a customer use issue. If you look through countless reviews on Amazon and Trust Pilot Asus, Asus UK and Let me repair Uk this is a known fault. They want to charge £50 more than we bought it for to repair. We don't agree to pay this BUT to even get our laptop back they want to charge us £45. It's extortion as IT'S STILL UNDER WARRANTY even if they don't consider the problem a warranty issue. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO BUY THIS PRODUCT EVEN IF IT LOOKS AFFORDABLE BECAUSE YOU WILL LOSE MONEY/ TIME IN THE LONG RUN. We have asked Amazon to help and haven't received any. Asus customer service is very poor. Trading standards have been notified.
