Brought the light as a gift for my mom to help her bonsai growth and it works fantastically. Although it's a clip light so you need to have something nearby thin enough that the clamp will be able to grip it (I clipped it to an overhead shelf in the laundry room), it's otherwise an easy set up as long as an outlet or power strip is nearby. It has three light options: red, blue, or purple with various attributes for each, such as red being ideal for seedlings, blue for flowering (if memory serves), and purple for a balanced UV effect of both.The timer is a bit tricky to understand at first, but it works as 3 hours for red, 6 hours for blue, and 12 hours for purple. It will turn off without a sound alert, so you will need to remember to turn your lights on again.Last, but not least, the brightness adjuster is useful though there are at least 4 or 5 settings, you must cycle through it to find your ideal setting.

Update 2022: I originally purchased this light in 2019. I bought several more since then. Now I’m buying a 4th light, because after 3 years the bulb finally burnt out on the original one.I like the purple light better than the white light sold by the same company. My plants survive under the white light, they thrive under this purple one.This light is amazing at keeping low-medium light plants happy. I’ve had success with Peace Lilies, Snake plants, Pothos, philodendrons, Dracaenas, ZZ plants, and Syngoniums under these lights.Bonus: I use it to help get up in the morning, especially in the winter months. I woke up super early one morning, to set it to turn on before my alarm goes off. It consistently went on every day for 3 years.Original review: I’ve been using this light for about 6 months. It’s worked so well, I’m buying another. I live near a forest, surrounded by trees. There is shade everywhere so I couldn’t keep plants happy. This light changed that for me!For my plants- the purple light was just right and they’ve responded really well to the 9hr timer. Not too much, not too little.

These lights are amazing and work well. I just wish they were slightly longer arms, but that's just my preference.

Be aware---Timer does not work per instructions. All features function properly except timer. Timer turns on and times for interval set but does not turn on after timing off interval. I was offered 10% refund--big deal. All I wanted is one that works. My fault for not checking everything out before 30 days.

My plants brought in for the winter usually lose all their leaves and some even die, so I decided to try supplementing the weaker winter light with this light. I run it during the day just above all the plants I have snuggled around the patio door. The plants are thriving quite nicely.. Only problem is that the timer only approximates a 12 hour cycle and gets further off the correct time each day. So about once a week I have to reset it. Also it stops altogether if the power goes off, even for a few seconds and again you have to start over with the correct cycle.

I bought this product as a way to keep my orchids thriving through a dark winter. I set it on the blue/red setting and adjusted the two heads to cover two large orchids and two succulents for 12 hours a day. I used it for about 3 days before leaving for thanksgiving, so I came back to my house a little nervous for my plants. Surprisingly, they were vibrant and healthy with dark green leaves and new growth.My only problem is that 12 hour timer. I originally set it to turn on at 7:30 am and turn off at 7:30pm to mimic natural sun. It’s slowly gotten off that time pattern since I bought it. So now it turns on at 6am and turns off at 6pm, and it’s very frustrating to have to reset it.So, if you just need a light, buy this one. It works wonderfully as a light. If you’re going to want the timer function, I’d suggest looking at other models. Since this is just a winter item, I’ll keep up the normal (annoying) task of resetting the timer when it gets off track.

This grow light can cover a pretty substantial area and does exactly what it said it would--the timer function works without a hitch. I would note that the USB cable provided is rather short if you want to put the light up and away from a regular floor-level socket (I had to use an extension cord so it would reach my plant shelf). The flexible arms could also be a bit more flexible and strong due to the weight of the lights, but with some patience, I was able to position it just right. The clamp is very strong and I'm not worried about it falling off my shelf.

I only have 1 of these for an entire 10ft. Wall that gets only morning sun only in summer yet the plants are growing well. I will likely buy another this winter.

Overall a good product, the one issue I have is that it's not watm enough and its fairly close to my plants.Interested in trying other lights from them

Light seems to work as it should, but it didn’t come with a power adaptor? I assumed it would have such an important piece.
