Should be zero stars
If I hadn't been stuck where I couldn't get another book I would never have finished. Glad I did so I can give a full review. The plot is weak and unbelievable. The characters are flat and lifeless. The dialogue is terrible and words are often used incorrectly. One that stands out is "fatalistic" instead of " fatal. "IThe ending is possibly one of the worst I've read ever. Made no sense as clearly just an attempt to have a surprise twist. None of the " ah ha! " of a real surprise. There is nothing one can look back on that makes it even remotely believable. The only plus is it was free.

When I read the blurb, I blurted, “shut up and take my money.”
Okay, when I saw the cover, I knew I’d be totally sold. When I read the blurb, I blurted, “shut up and take my money.”The make-believe town of Hamlet has a dark and eerie character. It kind of like reminds me of this theory that there’s still uncivilized locals inside the Amazon forest. It fascinates me when a book introduces a place or character that’s completely made up, because anything and everything can just happen. It forces me to think of what could’ve happened under normal circumstances. But even if Hamlet is a bit strange, the people are quite friendly and…uhm, normal. I mean, they are pretty much, or more or less the same people you’d encounter in a small town setup. This story has a dark tone, from the first page up until the last. The author did a fine job to keep me breathless, and just when I thought I’ve already figured out who is who and what is what, boom! An unexpected plot twist slapped me through.Mystery and suspense fans out there, this book is highly recommended to be in your bookshelf. I wouldn’t suggest you read this as a bedtime read though, since you might not be able to sleep because you wouldn’t be able to put it down. Also, adrenaline rush.

Implausible, boring, and the ending is worse.
An isolated unnamed settlement of 200 people would not have a B and B, an inn, diner, a bar, a doctor, and a sheriff with three deputies. The author leads us through a dull book in a way that makes the dissatisfying ending welcome relief. The book has the usual grammar and proof reading problems of an e-book.

Kept me guessing
The opening scene in the book sets the mood perfectly. A couple—married only a year and having problems—are driving in unfamiliar territory in a storm at night when a tire goes flat, and they’re forced to stop for the night in a small town so isolated in the mountains that there is no cell service. Nothing good ever comes out of a situation like that, right? And it doesn’t. The husband goes to sleep, while the wife goes out for a drink and ends up arrested. Not a great way to end her day, but she’s doing better than the husband who ends up murdered. There’s not much more I can say without giving spoilers, but Don’t Trust Me did keep me interested and guessing. The point of view switched back and forth among several characters. I liked the way it showed the reader the different perspectives of different characters regarding the same event. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that I read a lot of mysteries, and I have one fairly major complaint—to me, at least—about this one. I think a mystery should keep the reader guessing, but that when the bad guy is exposed, readers should be able to smack themselves on the forehead, and go, “Well, duh, I should have seen that.” If I can’t do that, I feel cheated, as if the author wasn’t playing fair. That’s the way I felt about Don’t Trust Me. That could be easily fixed by changing which character’s point of view is shown in certain scenes.

Not worth free
Worse sentence structure I have ever tried to read. I will not get another book by Jessica Lynch knowingly again. Terrible, terrible, terrible.I wish I could review without giving any star, it wasn't worth 1.

So juvenile, just sickening
At halfway through, I just started flipping pages looking for something of substance. I got entirely sick of two scraping, peeing, rutting bucks jousting over the two-hour, frail, tragic widow who's swooning with the vapors over these sweaty bucks stinking of testosterone. The whole book stinks.

Many things unbelievable
The concept of the story was interesting. The suspense was there. However, there were little things that didn't make sense. How does a town of 192 people have a 4 man police force? I live near some small out of the way towns like Hamlet and I know that the county covers these towns because they can't afford police officers at all. How can a doctor have any sort of practice that makes him a living in a town of 192 people? How does a town of 192 people manage to support 3 restaurants and a pub? How does a town support a bed & breakfast and a large manor hotel when the town is hidden in the mountains with a nearly invisible turnoff to get there. And Jack the victim surely knew how to change a tire and there's no way he's going to let Tessa drive around town on a flat because you would ruin the rim. With a nail in your tire and air slowly leaking out you wouldn't be able to calculate how far you could get without the tire becoming completely flat at just the right moment to end up in Hamlet. The locking system on Maria's door and nothing to deter anyone from entering or exiting the windows? These little things along with others that if I mentioned them would spoil the ending created problems for me to really find the story believable. There were several times I was sure I had figured out who the murderer was and why, there were just enough twists to make me wonder if it could possibly be. The ending wasn't a surprise to me because I suspected who at certain points throughout the book.

An o.k. read but slow to start and the author "cheated"!
As "Houchypooch" said in his/her review, the author cheated! There really was only one so very obvioussuspect that it seemed unlikely they really were the killer, but there was a massive twist to the end, whichwas unsatisfactory in my opinion.Hamlet was a tiny village with 192 residents, so why did it need a Sheriff (female) and 3 full time deputies? Also why a posh hotel as it wasn't on the tourist map and nobody seemed to like "outsiders". I think they wouldgo out of business!Tess and her husband are forced to stop in the hotel and while she is out drinking, he is murdered. The Sheriff is determined to believe Tess was involved, although she had a police-tight alibi.I thought it crass and rather unbelievable that the deputy sheriff and the local doctor would "hit" onTess so strongly when her husband had just died. However pretty and vulnerable she was, it didn't ringtrue. It was slow to get going but speeded up towards the end. It was an o.k. read but I won't be reading any morein the series.

Clever twists and turns
Since - as my partner reckons - I'm great at working out, who done it; this story really tired my brain out. When I thought I had the answer, along came another twist and, halfway through the book, I ended up with 3 suspects. Determined to find out who was the guilty person, I couldn't put the book down. I'm happy to say, my first suspect WAS the guilty person. I don't want to give too much away as it will spoil the read.Buy this book, readers; you won't be disappointed.

Was going well until the end
Its hard to explain what I didn't like about this book without spoiling it too much but I was enjoying the mystery and even the romance angle until the end. Then when I found out who the murderer was, I realised that I wasted my time reading about 50% of the book as most of the characters thoughts and feelings were to manipulate the reader and that left me feeling annoyed. If you like the unreliable narrator style story then you might enjoy it more than I did.

Don't Trust Me
I found the plot a bit twisted and sad in a way. The original murder in a low populated area with outsiders being frowned on and not trusted seemed to indicate an inside job. It soon became apparent though that some underhand plotting had been at work and it soon became apparent that Teas was deeply involved therefore the outcome was of little surprise.

Hidden away
It is a very small village hidden away and not many know where it is. They have an issue with their car and this is where they end. She up in jail over night and her husband is killed. There was no way she could have done it. Who killed her husband? Why? Is she next in the list? See if she can escape with her lifeI received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
