Replacement Funnel
I’m writing because several people have damaged the flimsy funnel and have problems replacing it.I took a Bialetti funnel from my old Bialetti 3-cup cafetera and put it in my new Alessi 3-cup Chipperfield design cafetera . It fit very well, maybe not totally perfect but very, very close. Then I put the Alessi funnel in my old Bialetti. Again, this one also fit very well. I did NOT make coffee with switched funnels. These aren’t super high precision items. My guess is the Bialetti will work fine in the Alessi, and vice-versa. If you need to replace your funnel, try the Bialetti. Let me know if it works ok.Other people have wondered where this Alessi cafetera is made. Alessi doesn’t make it obvious but they do put a sticker on the bottom of the box. It says “Made in Vietnam”Still other people complain about their cafetera discoloring from heat. Let me say that you do not use high heat with these pots! The flame diameter should match the pot bottom’s diameter. No bigger! You’ll scorch the coffee as well as damage the pot. Go easy. Finally, when the pot starts making a spitting noise the coffee is done. Turn the flame off immediately! That’s all you’re getting so don’t wait for the last bubble. Otherwise, again, scorched coffee. Not worth the extra milliliter. The spitting noise is a little softer on the Alessi but still audible. One more thing: these are aluminum-they will NOT do well in the dishwasher. They’ll turn an awful gray and look like poison. The good thing is that you DO NOT want them super clean anyway. The coffee oils form a barrier between the (mildly reactive) aluminum pot and the coffee you’re going to drink. I think this reduces the amount (if any) aluminum you’d get from a squeaky-clean pot. The coffee from an oily pot also tastes better.

A Better Moka Pot
I’ve had many moka pots over the years. This is the first one that screws together smoothly without catching or chattering. Better castings for better living! I find the coffee brews quietly and when it’s done it makes a sputtering sound to alert you to turn off the flame. The upper pot gets a little full so coffee will spill if you move quickly or pour too fast. (Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.) The design seems so retro Italiano-swoopy curvy-beautiful use of the materials.

Good to the Last Drop
Making espresso using the Alessi Mocha Espesso coffee maker is my 3rd coffee making adventure. The first adventure was about Instant Coffee and the second adventure explored French Press. What confuses me about this coffee maker is that is states that it makes 6 cups. Apparently these must be itty bitty baby cups because it hold exactly 1 1/3 cups or 316 mL of water in the bottom vessel, which is not a lot. My coffee mug holds about 2 actual cups. Anyway, pardon my ignorance if espresso cups use some other form of measurement. The coffee maker itself is attractively designed, easy to clean and works effectively. 5 Stars is what I rate the Alessi Moka Espresso coffee maker.

Design improvement!
With this model, the Alessi has made an important design improvement to stovetop espresso pots. The handle points diagonally away from the pot and this avoids having the end of the handle melt from the heat of a burner. I have burned the plastic handle on many of the Bialetti-style, stovetop, espresso pots. Their handles point inward toward the pot, which places the bottom of the handle right over the heat source. When I travel, I take a stovetop espresso pot with me. Depending on the type of stove top, gas or electric, and how the flame is adjusted, the handle on the Bialetti often melted. With the Alessi, you still have to be careful to place the handle side of the pot away from the heat source, but there is much less chance of melting it. Besides all of the above, the Alessi looks great and makes great espresso. There are of course many variables that change the taste of espresso. I use pre-ground, high quality, Arabica, French roast beans and I think the result is better than the majority of what is available from espresso made with high end machines. I am also glad that Alessi offers an aluminum espresso pot. The stainless steel choices look nice, and cost more, but they do not get hot enough to make a great cup of espresso. This is the pot for me!

Well designed
The biggest problem I always have with single cup Moka pots is that the handle melts. This Moka pot is cleverly designed with the handle leading out away from the pot instead of hugging it. Therefore it tolerates heating on the gas stove extremely well. It uses great materials and makes a fantastic cup of espresso. The one drawback is that the base is narrower that it appears in the pictures which makes it not fit quite as snugly on my gas range, but that's not that big of deal for me. The spout design is fantastic. I haven't spilled a drop pouring from this one - which is more than I can say for most other brands. Well done Alessi! Great design! You won over a long-time Bialetti customer.

Beautiful and well made
Works really well, with a more precision thread on the water chamber so it's easier to open. Only complaint is that the lid could be tighter. It gets knocked closed easily while the lit on the Bialetti stays open. Otherwise a well made moka pot.

3 cup Moka Alessi, form and function
It is beautiful. The exterior has a polished, smooth aluminum surface, and the curves are not just lovely to touch, they make it easy to screw and unscrew the top. The handle is set further away from the pot so you won’t feel as much heat as in others. The carafe is larger making it easier to see the level of espresso perking up. I had originally wanted a 6 cup, but after reading it’s disappointing reviews I decided to buy the 3 cup instead. I will be ordering additional silicone gaskets for it as I know it will last a very long time. I am so pleased with this 5 Star purchase.

So disappointed with this
Had an Alessi moka pot for years - very solid and would produce really good concentrated espresso gradually (ie rather than the watery bitter tasting rush of "coffee" which comes out of most cheaper moka pots). Because the internal filter has badly corroded after so much use, I decided to replace it with this new Alessi pot.Sadly this new Alessi model is not a patch on the old one. It's flimsy and feels cheap. However and more importantly, it produces watery, bitter coffee. The base also has a very small diameter so it's not really safe to use on a gas hob (it wobbles precariously on the smallest ring on my range cooker).

Funnel broke after a few months use
Like another review on here I too had a problem with the very thin and flimsy funnel on my pot. It creased and puckered up allowing coffee grinds to get into the coffee. It took months of dealing with Alessi Cust Service before it was sorted. First funnel was wrong size (my fault as I told them the wrong cup size!) second funnel arrived crushed as they had removed it from its box to put into a jiffy bag to save on postage. Third funnel finally arrived aok. As I live in the uk and they send vis Swiss postage each funnel took about a month to arrive! I was put off ordering a replacement funnel on Amazon due to poor reviews about the quality of them, hence contacting Alessi direct. However when funnel arrived I could see that it was indeed the same as those being sold on Amazon and its that they are just very thin metal.

EASY TO SCREW TOGETHER AT 5 am in the morning
if you have ever used a poorly made alloy product that mis-screws and locks or just wont thread together to close with easy ...you might not appreciate the quality of this Alessi Moka pot.AT 5am on a winter morning ...easy to use is a 5 star award in my book .....agreed that the crema is minimal with this type of coffee pot ...but Im happy. The 3 cup size gives 150ml of coffee....and im lucky that I found a set of mini mugs that hold exactly that ..so now I enjoy a 3 shot fix all to myself and couldn't think of going smaller.

Poor quality metal
I was initially very pleased with this, making lovely tasting coffee but after only just a few months noticed the metal dulling. This was much worse on the insides of the espresso maker, with the inside of the boiler fast going from brilliant silver to a mottled dark colour despite being cleaned and dried following each use. I have now started to notice rust on the bottom of the boiler, making it unfit for use. I was under the impression aluminum did not rust, meaning this must be made of some sort of cheap aluminum alloy. Having used this daily, it has barely lasted me six months. I have now purchased a Bialetti, having thrown this one in the recycling.

Looks better than I imagined
I broke the handle on my favourite Alessi Moka machine this week. I use it every morning and almost worship it. It is such a beautiful design and they do not make it any more. I will take it to an Alessi shop once the lockdown is over and see what they can do but to be safe I got another one from you. It is not as beautiful but it is not bad and possibly from a cheaper range. It was marked 'used 'but it has to be brand new so I am very grateful as it was about 45% off the list price and I can retire my perfect one for a bit.
