South Shore Tao 6-Drawer Double Dresser, Natural Walnut

Starting out, please be aware that this is a 130-some pound dresser with a modern design for only 200-some bucks. Adjust your expectations accordingly, eh? To the lady who reviewed saying her carpenter husband took three hours to build this, I have some news for you: he was just trying to get some time to himself. I've done a little woodworking for personal projects but I'm far from being at the level of a carpenter. I was goofing off the entire time, drinking beer and chatting with friends, and it still only took me a tad over 2 hours, even though when I first thought I was finished I noticed that I'd drunkenly installed a part upside-down and had to take it partially apart again to fix it.That aside, to the dresser itself: It arrived with a couple broken bits. This isn't new in the world of shipping flat-pack furniture. I shot an email at customer service asking for replacement parts and they replied very quickly and politely and had replacement parts shipped that same day. The instructions weren't perfect, with a couple slightly ambiguous bits (like the 303 screws were randomly used in one step without them being labeled as being the 303 screws, but at that late stage in the construction they were the only part left that made any sense at all to use), but largely it was pretty darned obvious what it was telling you to do. Word to the wise, though: if your drawers look crooked, nothing is actually crooked. The rails make it very easy to have the rollers catch on the top rather than inside, which offsets them. You just have to pay attention when first putting them in and then you're good to go.The dresser is gorgeous and really sturdy and I love it. The reviews almost scared me away, which is why I'm leaving this good one. It really doesn't deserve the hate it's getting.

Turned out exactly like the pictures and is 8/10 in quality for how inexpensive. You definitely don't want to rip drawers open and slam them shut (not that you should do that anyway), but you do want to be a little more cautious with this piece as the quality is not made to last probably more than 5 years. OVERALL a beautiful, modern piece. It is a ***** to put together, but seriously overall a 5 star rating for what it actually is. It does come as dark as the pictures show even though it's called "gray" -which I was happy about because I was going for the dark look in my bedroom. If you're wanting something more gray this probably wouldn't be your piece.

I purchased this item as I was a satisfied customer of South Shore products in the past. When the product arrived, the box was damaged. I notified South Shore, who instructed me to open the package and check for damaged contents. When they were notified that the top, left and right side panels, and two of the drawers were indeed damaged they notified me that they would send me replacement parts and that I could simply recycle the damaged pieces. Purchase with confidence!

The drawers are a little weak. It's not a high end piece. I like the design and color. I was missing one drawer bottom so had to run to the hardware store to improvise. The top had a chip in it and I was short one one little screw for the drawer rail. I haven't found a replacement yet. They should send some extras.

Directions state it takes approx. 90 minutes to assemble- took my husband who is amazing at carpentry and knows what he's doing three hours at a face paced rate because he was trying to get it done before I got home. Once it was put together it was nice looking- holes didn't match up very well and there were several chips missing out of drawers and a big piece missing from top. Good for the price and for our purpose but you get what you buy and it is on the cheaper made side. VERY heavy- carried in pieces up the stairs.

Broke while building, immediately contacted the seller and 3 weeks later still no reply for me trying to purchase the broken pieces

The look appearance and functionality of the product was great for the money. Perfect for smaller spaces. Like others have mentioned, I did receive a slightly damaged piece as with any furniture delivery through USPS, FedEx, or UPS. I contacted customer service (~5 minutes total), and a new piece was shipped and received within 5 days. Great customer service.

Not happy with quality at all. Item received with lots of damage (nicks, scratches, missing a handle on one of the drawers. Have tried numerous times to reach out to the vendor with no response. Overall great price, but quality is very poor. Still planning on returning the item, just not sure how to just yet.

Four front facing and the top were damaged upon opening box. Desperately needed dresser, so decided to assemble anyway. Hardware is not labeled, it's a guessing game which is correct. Instructions are very, very poor. They actually state, "Instructions and diagrams may differ from actual product " (or something like that). Then you would assemble one part, and it would fall apart when you assembled the next. The WORST experience assembling furniture, ever. It took 14 hours to assemble!!! Because one part would fall apart when you put together another. Finally had to use carpenter's glue and clamps to hold some parts together to assemble the rest. And it weighs a ton for just compressed sawdust with plastic wood-look wallpaper glued to it.

Very weak and poor design on the drawers. Almost every drawer has fallen apart at least once and all have had to be reinforced. One has still fallen apart again and is more of a nuisance than anything
