Waiting to Exhale

When this movie first came out .. It was during the 1990's .. Of course the buzz was .. could Whitney hold her own with the two leading ladies in the movie. Actress Angela Bassett is a pretty powerful actress and Loretta Devine is no slump either . Whitney of course tried her best in "The Body Guard" .. what really made that movie soar . Fortunately was the soundtrack ....it is a time in those of us live's from the CD disk decade. That grew up in the 1990's as adults and savored that era and all the trend's . Angela's career path changed when she starred in the auto-biography of "Tina Turner/What's Love got To do with"? I think that she should have won an Oscar for that performance. This movies cast mates I have had the honor of meeting many years back in person. That person was actor Wesley Snipes in the flesh . It was back in Hollywood in 2007 one evening ( I won't reveal the detail's ... Of course Actor/Director Forrest Whitaker directed this film and and Singer/Producer/Record Executive Kenneth "Baby-Face" Edmonds did the sound track. This is a movie about Black women and but it shouldn't be labeled a "Black film". In part because million's of women from every race .. Young,Middle age and Senior should be able to relate to each character in the film. It's heart breaking as a woman when you have to deal with such issues as being " 1.) Lied to 2.) Placed in the position as " The Other Woman. 3.) Dating with men Drug, Alcohol and Deceptive trait's and sneaky games. Writer Terry MacMillian did a fantastic job as usual spunning a novel and she worked on the screen play as well. One of the tones in this movie that I found enlightening is that Lela Rochon's character "Savannah" would keep a child ? Honestly when you are dating a man ..I think it would be better to protect yourself ..from all of that "Un-planned " pregnancy stuff... Children deserve mother's who can commit time to them .. and not a baby sitter or family member filling in the gap. Having children should be put off until you are in your late 30's ... To each her own..I guess ..? Enough of the moral ..chastising . .. Free country and people are allowed to live as they so .. chose? Though movie's such as this one are about "Message's.. Am I correct? Some men are real stinker's .. and like Whitney said. The "Good ones" are usually married .. dating or gay? Did you notice there was very little nudity ..or graphic violence in this movie. Yes Angela's character did burn her cheating hubby's possession's in her front yard.. I suggest that you don't do that lady's.. Just pack and go... No amount of hurt is worth a night in jail.. Inquire about Lisa Lopes (the R&B singer /TLC) ..who burned her ex's house down to the ground back in the 1990's. Take the high road ... and enjoy Life ..

Loved the movie. Me and my gal loved it. The Acting. I actually was in the movie Chi-raq with Angela Bassett Church scene. To this day like a lot of actors, we don't review our movies and I have not reviewed my own movie directed by Spike Lee.Yeah, I got tired of the movie disappearing from my feed so I had to purchase it. It's a good movie too look at around New Year if you are with your guy or gal, Valentine's Day or if you break up with your guy or gal. Great Soundtrack too

The burning scene were Bernadine burns up ALL of John's clothing collection! I grew up were my Mother was abused by a man ( it wasn't like here in the movie) and I always wished that Mom could have done this to her former late Husband Rogers things! So this scene is my most favorite part! I love all the rest of the move as well. It is a bittersweet movie to watch b/c Whitney is no longer here ( and her Daughter) b/c I still miss Whitney. She looked absolutely great in this! So do the other supporting female cast members: Lela Rochon, Lorretta Divine, Angela Bassett ( Great acting). It really speaks to us women no matter what race and that's the truth. Here is what it addresses:Lonliness = Savannah going out on New Years Eve & having trouble connectingalso Robin both are attractive womenBetrayal = Bernadine & her ex husbandLearning to navigate lifes pitfalls = that seems to be demonstrated all thru out the movie.Great movie. Worth the price.

Most of the actors in this moving are still making great movies or tv shows. This movie is still relevant 20+ yrs later. Funny, sad, exciting moments all in one classic.

Do you have old school movies or shows you love to watch over and over again? Well, I do and Waiting to Exhale is definitely one of mine. I watch it while cooking dinner or just when I feel like it. The storytelling is wonderful and it’s good quality visually. What’s 90’s realness without Waiting to Exhale? A Go ahead and get it here because it’s hard to stream anywhere else these days. You might as well purchase it instead of renting.

Although this movie is about women primarily, the men play a very significant role and the flaws in the men brings out the wonderful strength in the women. It exhibits sex but not nudity which is refreshing. Each of the women get their revenge against the men who triffle with them and the women end of basically optimistic in the end and seem confident that there is a brighter day ahead for them. One woman with a child decides to let her son grow up and be a man. Another woman decides to become a single mother.The scene where Wesley Snipes and Angela Bassett lie in bed in their clothes is a very tender moment in the film. I have wondered for a long time why Wesley Snipes did not get billing for this film.
