ABUS84IB/50 padlock marine

We tried with two "waterproof" locks before this one. Both rusted and broke within the month. One got stuck before it broke, leaving us unable to get in the shed. I looked at the lock I used in secondary school twenty years ago and that I still use now, not rusted, still functioning, Abus. I looked at the lock we inherited several years ago from the previous house owner, used on the gate, not rusted, still functioning, Abus. So I bought this Abus lock! It's great, smooth to use, not rusting and good value for money. Buy this one first.

I bought these to replace my old set of weatherproof Yale locks, they rusted in the span of a month and you could lock or unlock them properly, it broke my keys and looked awful.These are much sturdier, harder to picklock, and haven't rusted, even through winter they've been perfect. Very happy with the purchase, just a shame I couldn't buy multiple that share a key.

Use it for my garden shed. Strong and weather proof with no hitches with the key turning

So far pleased with the padlock. Still smooth opening and closing not rusting due to the amount of rain fall we have had. Comparing to other padlocks I've had I would recommend this padlock.

I've bought several padlocks for my shed and my rear gate and these are exposed to rainwater. Previously the padlocks have been graded as weatherproof, yet after a month, they are rusting and after 3 months even with oil and grease, they are next to useless. They either are very hard to open, or almost impossible to re-lock.The Era padlock i am reviewing is graded as marine quality, so it is made with a rustproof body and stainless steel shackle. So far the two I bought have been out in the rain several times, and they are spotless, not a hint of rust or staining on the shackles or the bodies. What I like too is that the key enters very easily, and operates very easily too, turns smoothly and no sticking. What surprised me is that the two I bought have different keyways. The keys look almost identical but the grooves along the length of the keys are different, so the key for padlock 1 cannot even be put into padlock 2, and vice versa. Use of different keyways is a great added security feature and expands the number of key variations out there in the world, making it very unlikely someone will be able to open it.Very pleased at what is an inexpensive item, I mean, under 8 quid each to protect a shedfull of tools and bikes, and a garden with nice garden furniture, its a no brainer. If you can't get these exact locks, then at least go for marine quality stainless steel products from someone else.
