The Bag I'm Taking to Grandma's

Quality story for early readers
The Bag I'm Taking to Grandma's is written at a kindergarten-second grade reading level. The first half of the book progresses in the soothing cadence of repeating rhymning lines, like in "The House That Jack Built". Pictures of the items being packed are included in the sentences (instead of the words for the item), which may take adults time to adjust to, but it makes reading easier for children. Preschoolers will love to hear this story as a read aloud and will love "reading" the picture clues with you. The second half of the story continues as mom clarifies what really needs to be packed for grandma's house. Any parent who has had a child pack too many toys and no clothes or toothbrush in an overnight bag will laugh at this delightful tale! This story is a quality story for early readers and their preschool siblings.

Very charming
I loved his little book, and think it is nearly perfect in its appeal. I would have given it 5 stars, but at the end of the book, the illustration does not support the narrative, and kind of lets you down, so a few points off, but a charming book, nonetheless.

Good times...
Holy cow who thought my kid would love this book so much. He actually has the whole thing memorized. I imagine that he really loves his grandma so that helps. Book was solid and has held up to some serious handling from a 4 year old.

This is such a cute and funny book. Typical of kids who when they go for an overnight want to take half their room with them! I'm a decorative painter and as a baby gift for a new little boy, I painted a canvas bag with all the toys the boy in the book wanted to take with him to gram ma's house, and added the book, plus a boyish pillowcase. The new mom loved it! It was the hit of the party!

Love this children's book
I already had a copy of this book from my own children, but wanted one to share with my special education kindergarten students. Love the sequencing in the story - it's great for comprehension!

I read this all the time to my 4 y.o. grandson and he loves to read it along with me because of all the pictures in the sentences

good and bad
My son will read about half way through and get bored. He does, however, like to read the images for me. So, it is good and bad.
