An honest review
A great little "camp axe" . Bear in mind that it's not intended for splitting large logs , this is not a "winter axe" (everyone who is getting the chips are trying to split logs that are to large) . It's meant for dead wood about the size of your forearm and even then you should split your wood with the wood lying flat not standing erect . It's also a great little carving axe . Pair this with a small fixed blade knife and a saw and you're set. If used properly there's no reason you ahould have any problems with this little axe.

Now part of my backpacking kit
I took this on a short, two night backpacking trip. There's obviously a trade-off with weight when it comes to hatchet usability, but we found this to work really well. We split wood and kindling for several hours worth of campfire and had no issues. My concern was with the design of the blade inside the handle. Splitting wood puts the handle in the impact area, but we had no problem. It's not the best hatchet I own, but it's a pound lighter than my next one, and for backpacking that's worth it. Because of its light weight, chopping is less effective, but batoning (embedding the hatchet and then driving it the rest of the way through with a heavier section of wood) worked very well. This will go on most of my trips from now on.

Performs ok. Was expecting a little more.
When I saw the videos for this camp axe, i was really pumped about it. I have been using a Tramontina Machete for years and thought that this axe would be slightly more advantageous than the machete.Reviewers say that the metal chops all day and keeps its edge. I found that it gets dings in it fairly easy. I don't chop into the dirt but after going through several logs, if there is any dirt or debris on the log and you hack through it, it has a tendency to chip the edge of the blade. The axe cuts fairly well but no better than other hatchets and axes I've owned in the past. in fact, I think my old Fiskars cut slightly better than the Mora.Though the blade is thinner than an traditional axe, it is still heavy and has its disadvantages, the heel cannot be used for pounding because it is too narrow.Finer wood working for bushcrafting is also difficult with this axe. My Tramontina machete does a better job with detail work for making utensils. The machete also cuts through logs slightly faster than the Mora camp axe as well. It's not a bad product, in fact, it's a pretty good product, but not worth the price tag. Fiskars works just as well for less cost and a Tramontina machete (bolo style) works much better for about 1/2 the cost. One of my biggest gripes is the lousy blade cover. You cannot attach it to anything like a belt. It's easily misplaced or in my case, lost. It has no function other than to cover the blade. Now, since it's lost, serves no function at all.I have always counted on Mora to produce high quality products at a fraction of the cost of the competition. I own a half dozen of their knives. I just don't think that the camp axe lives up to Mora's low cost/high value ratio.

Fantastic camp or backpacking axe.
I’ve used this for a few months and I can say I’m thoroughly impressed. The handle is strong and ergonomic. The edge on the blade came sharp and has help up well. I’ve only had to touch up the edge a few times after relatively heavy use. I will eventually have to put a new edge on it but that doesn’t seem to be anytime soon. The sheath it comes with could be better but for the price it’s not that bad. After all, you’re buying this product for the axe and the sheath is secondary. Some complain about the odd steel but I’ve had no issues with chipping or corrosion. Like I stated before, the edge has held extremely well. Just another great Morakniv product. Maybe offer a few other colors for the handle down the road? At this point I’m really reaching for cons. Lastly, it should be noted that the back of the blade is pretty thin compared to other axes and isn’t great for use as a hammer or driving in tent stakes. However, you can just turn the axe to its side and use the side of the handle (near the head of the axe) to drive in the stakes. I wouldn’t recommend any heavy duty strikes with this method.

Well its a some kind of hacket
Pros-sharp and I mean sharplooks good, feels good in the hand.Cons, here we go. Too light- Blade to thin to chop more for cutting- Shealth cover is cheap. Would I buy again NO, save your money for a good bushcraft knife like a Mora Garberg. This is cute, but basically useless.

Perfect hatchet. Great handle, well balanced, nice sharp blade.
I bought this a while back but used it for the first time recently. I love it. The handle shape, weight and balance of the blade makes swinging it feel very natural and secure, the blade is sharp and sturdy, and the way the tang protrudes behind the handle means you can use it as a wedge if necessary and strike it with say a big log and not damage the handle.I even used the back of the blade to hammer in a few plastic stakes in hard ground. The metal is a bit too narrow for this purpose, but it worked. All around, this is a perfect hatchet, can't think of anything I'd change.

It packs well and works great for camp chores and processing campfire wood when backpacking ...
Works well for its intended use. This is a very light axe to use for light chopping and light splitting and other tasks. This is not meant for processing a lot or large pieces of wood.I have used this for about a year and a half and have had no trouble in my applications of this tool. It packs well and works great for camp chores and processing campfire wood when backpacking and camping. I love the axe it fits my needs well.

It is very sharp, but the handle has begun ...
It is very sharp, but the handle has begun to chip around the head. It doesn't instill a lot of covidence. Shipping was very fast however.

Decent axe with only a couple of minor issues
Early days yet, but looks to be a decent axe, the axe comes in a long rectangular cardboard box, the axe is fairly short but fits in my backpack nicely and is good for me as a beginners axe, the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars is the axe handle, I find it slightly slippery, may need to buy some grip tape and wrap it with that, would have been nicer if it had a wooden handle and an inch longer

A bit disappointed with mora
I always buy more for the build quality and the fine detail of there products, however I'm a bit disappointed with this axe there's a lot of over moulding marks on the shaft and the pummel also has a rough cut to it. There's also a gap between the axe head and the moulded handle.Think mora need to get there act together on this as uts not a cheap axe.

Great first axe for me
Very sharp, almost put my knife out of use as this is so easy to handle it can do the smaller jobs. I went for the bright colour so it’s less likely that I put it down and lose the thing. I’m no pro, just do the odd wild camp.

Excellent materials and construction
The materials for head and shaft are excellent. The axe is lightweight and well balanced, ideal for camping, backpacking or bushcraft.
