Must read for parents, grandparents, teachers and anyone who knows/works with teens
This books is a great education for all people. Today's teenagers are growing up in a culture most adults today are very unfamiliar with...it's much different than our teenage years. Dr. Duffy shares how teens see the world they're living in and how we as adults can best walk beside them in the pressure filled world. With the world of social media - these teenage kids have the lives on display and feel a pressure that I surely never did at that age. Dr. Duffy teaches you how to best communicate with kids at this age...and you'll learn the teenage years have a much longer span - as they're starting earlier like age 10 and lasting until 19 or later (depending on the individual). Very informative, helpful - with easy strategies to incorporate that truly will make your life with your teenager much improved!! Because we can all BE BETTER!

Relevant, practical information specific to today's young people
Dr. Duffy's extensive experience working with teens and young people is evident in this book. Full of acute observations and tangible solutions, this book will help you better understand the specific problems that kids today are facing. Dr. Duffy's deep empathy for the youth that he encounters helps the reader better understand how they can connect to their children even when the landscape of their world is completely new to them. As a middle school social worker, I found this book quite valuable and is one that I can confidently recommend to parents to give them much needed perspective.

Dr. Duffy has the inside track on the daily lives and stresses of today's teens and how they have evolved over the past few decades. Sharing his experiences with countless teens and families in his psychotherapy practice, using humor, compassion and genuine admiration for this population, he describes the overwhelm our kids face from the breakneck speed of social media and day-to-day attempts to reach higher and higher to achieve. Dr. Duffy's tone is engaging, forthright and practical. He shares invaluable advice about how to connect with teens. A "must read" !

Incredibly Informative, well written, easy read.
Excellent book. Very helpful companion for raising your tweens - teens. Guided Therapy for parents with explanations and tools to utilize for any parent currently raising a tween or teen. Eye opening for even the most up-to-speed, in-the-know or even younger parents. Especially pertinent for older parents that may experience a larger generational gap than average. Addresses all of the big issues today in age and most importantly those issues we don’t necessary want to speak to other parents about, your spouse & the step parent if applicable or, family members. Highly recommend.

This book is an essential tool for you to help navigate parenting in today’s world.
As a life coach who often works with teens and young adults, I have not seen a book that is more important. Dr Duffy addresses the issues facing our young people . And there are so many alarming issues . Dr Duffy has advice that will help parents reach their kids and let them know that in a world with so much “ noise” coming at them, they have their backs. They are not alone.

Good read; great advice
A great resource for navigating parenting of today’s teens, who are facing so many different pressures- in different ways. I found many great nuggets of sound advice that caused me to pause and rethink how I can approach things with my son in more constructive and supportive ways. I’ve gone back to the book a few times for help!

A complete guide to deal with anxiety and stress in teens
This book is amazing and most of the case studies the author shared reminded me of my teenagers. It's a complete guide with simple strategies to get closer to our teens and dig into their world.

Useful and instructive
The world teens are growing up in so different to the world that I grew up in, if you compound this with the fact they are changing and the world is changing so much faster then parenting becomes a real roller coaster. I liked the practical advice and positiveness of the book that helps parents look at life from the teens point of view and gives parents some practical realities. It is written by an American so some parts we have to consider ourselves in a UK context. I didn't like the idea of an Emotional Bank Balance but you have to look at the underlying objectives - parenting will never have a user manual so don't expect a book to solve everything.

Good advice.
The book is very good with a lot of insightful information. Although can be a little annoying when the author writes ‘she’ (in relation to a daughter) a lot of the time when in actual fact the information provided relates to any gender. But on the whole the advice given is very relatable and sound and a guide for solution.
