Works well with a connection caveat
I just installed 12 units in my house. As a background, I had a different brand installed in my house and second home. All worked well. After a year or so, my wifi was upgraded at my house. Now I coukd not reconnect the units to the wifi in my house. But the units continued to work at my second home. So, after not having leak detectors for some time, the hose on our dishwasher broke and was flooding our kitchen. Luckily I was right there when it happened and shut the water down, which brings me back to how important leak detectors are. So after searching, I decided on the Moen. I easily installed all 12 Moen units. One did come with a dead battery. The issue I see that many have is that these units have to connect up to Wifi 2.4 and not your general 5.0 wifi. And some wifi appliancees out there are pretty ‘picky’ on which 2.4 works. That’s my experience. These Moen installed easily, as my 2.4 wifi worked well with them. My experience has been some brands will work with my wifi and others won’t. I’m lucky with the Moen.I also tested one by purposely putting a very slight film of water around a detector. And it worked flawlessly by sending an alert. I also liked the app very much. Gives you the temp and humidity. And you can set the type notifications and what info.So far I’m very pleased. Just be aware of those who had trouble connecting or staying connected. Comes down to the quality of their Wi-Fi. Like I said, some brands will work for you, and others won’t. I’m happy.

Do not waste your money
Terrible. I wouldn't know if these work or not because I NEVER could attach them to Wi-Fi. I'm pretty technically savvy, so I can connect just about anything.Spoke to Moen technical support, they said it was my Wi-Fi; I had to call my internet provider and ensure I have 2.4 GHZ. Talked to internet provider, I have connected 2.4 GHZ, still wouldn't connect. Went back to Technical Support, they tried to help me connect again, couldn't attach ~ "turn off the 5G", "try using a 'guest' internet connection", etc. Even with all the suggestions, nothing. All I got from Moen was excuses why it wouldn't connect. Since recovering from a flood, this was the first chance I had to work through the 2.4 GHZ issue and speak with tech support of my internet provider. Now I'm outside my return time and can't return them. Wasted money!Don't bother buying these. Can't say if they'll work because it's nearly impossible to connect them to wifi.

Works great but...
I have 9 of these. They work great and even send you an email if there is a Temperature, Humidity or water sensor out of range. My only complaint is that the battery does not last that long. I'm guessing every 6 months they need to be replaced and it is not a standard off the shelf battery however I think I pay around a dollar a piece for the battery.

Does what it needs to, just test them first.
I found the overall setup process for these to be pretty painless, much like a lot of other "smart" devices these days. It's worth mentioning we have them on a separate wireless network we run for "IOT" devices (one of 5 wireless networks in the house.. Working in enterprise IT makes you bring those kinds of ideas home with you!), which is isolated from everything but internet access, and still had no issues. I always put this kind of information in reviews, because some devices will not work properly on separate networks, or you'd have to join your phone to that network first to complete the setup, etc, but since these advertise their own wireless network during the setup phase, and you join your phone to that to enter the details of the network you want them to run on, it wasn't an issue. One thing I would strongly suggest, though, is that you test each one. We put 3 of them in, 2 with the add-on water sensing cables that detect water along their entire length. I decided to test each one to make sure they worked and that the app alerts worked, and also to see how loud the built-in siren is (not very). One of the units would not detect water. I tried different sensors (the built-in "button" one and another full-length cable, plus the prongs on the back), and also tried a different unit on the same cable this one was using. It was definitely the base unit that was the problem, so we ended up having to return it and get a new one.I can't say how common such a problem might be though, and the 3 we have now all work fine. We've had them for 4 months now, and all still show 100% battery. The temperature and humidity readings seem to be at least relatively accurate, though those aren't important to us.You can rename each sensor to help you keep track of them, and it will use that name in the alerts (like "Leak Detected - Heater"). It will also alert you if a device goes offline and stops communicating. They do support having multiple different locations/houses defined, for those of you who need to manage sensors in multiple homes. And the details of the alert show "Location, DeviceName" to help distinguish them (though if I had multiple locations, I'd probably put the address numbers before each sensor name to make it easier). They're a tad expensive for what they are (particularly the $20 cost for the leak-sensing cable add-on), especially if you wanted to go all-out and have them under every sink, behind every toilet, washing machine, dishwasher, etc. We'd need something like 20 of them to make that happen. Right now we're only using them in our unfinished basement, as we're rarely down there so would not notice a leak for quite some time. We have one that covers the HVAC and hot water heater area, and the other two are located by the main water input and hose bibs. One advantage of adding the leak-sensing cable is that you can then plug in the "button sensor" cable (the one that comes with the units) to the end of that leak-sensing cable and put it in another location if it's close enough to reach it, letting you potentially cover a larger area. I also chose to use strips of tape across the leak-sensing cable every foot or so, to hold it to the ground. Otherwise it tends to bend and kink and large parts of it may not actually be touching the ground.Overall, it does what it is supposed to do, the app is easy to use and we've seen no problems with it beyond the one DOA unit.

Great leak detectors.
Bought this after my basement flooded. Eventually I plan on getting the Moen flo smart water flow monitor which will pair wonderfully with this. I like how it shows temperature and humidity on the location where you set it up. Battery life is wonderful. App setup is a breeze and the app itself is nice. The ability for it to email, text, call and all the things is amazing. Its quite sensitive which is a good/bad thing. I have my water softener draining into my sump and it can splash at times and so i had to adjust my sensors location until it would quit getting splashed and going off.

arrived with batteries, almost dead
package arrived looking like they played football with it two of the units. The plastic tab that protects the battery from discharging had fallen out in the batteries are almost dead other than that fairly easy set up one sensor had a little bit of problem connecting to my mesh system, but that was resolved by resetting the unit and starting all over
