Cy Twombly: Making Past Present Hardcover – August 25, 2020

Since I bought the book because of an obsessive passion for Anne Carson's work, i went straight to the small part of the book that was hers, and then stuck around to read the rest of the text and enjoy the pictures. I'm slowly warming to the idea that there's something to be gotten from Twombly's sculpture, and this book will be a big help with that. And the photographs of the paintings and the installations are hypnotic. There's a great deal of useful information here, though it will only be useful to those who are already drawn in by the pictures. As it should be.

This is a beautiful neutral colored coffee table book.

Content is quite good but book is poorly bound and arrived with torn pages. Sending it back and asking for a replacement. If the new copy arrive intact I will upgrade the rating to five stars.I received a replacement copy of this book, and thankfully no damage to the pages as noted initially (now a 4 star rating, up from 3). Still poorly bound with the first twenty pages appearing ready to fall out. Disappointing in a book this expensive with such impressive content. I will keep this copy and treat it gingerly. Amazon quickly provided the replacement, and returning the first (damaged) copy could not have been easier.

I am an artist and have a small collection of 'coffee table' art books on many artists. I love Cy Twombly; I have 2 other books about him with illustrations. I was curious about his mark making as applied to art works. While there are an abundance of pictures of his marks on paper and of his 'drawn' work, I found the collection to be uninspiring altogether. I'm keeping it but if you're a collector as I am, I would say get a different book of Cy Twombly's work.

I received this for a gift, realized I wasn’t very interested in his work, and returned it. Beautiful book for an afficianado.

The binding is excellent, but the text takes up 2/3 of the book.Customers don't buy to read text; we buy to see the artworks.
