Great Pair of Pedals!
I recently upgraded my mountain bike pedals to the Crankbrothers Mallet MTB Bike Pedal, and I could not be happier with the performance and durability of these clipless pedals. The design is sleek and stylish, with a solid and secure platform that provides excellent power transfer and control. The clipless system is easy to engage and disengage, providing a reliable and efficient pedal stroke that has greatly improved my overall riding experience. The build quality is also top-notch, with rugged construction that can withstand even the toughest trail conditions. I would highly recommend the Crankbrothers Mallet MTB Bike Pedal to any serious mountain biker looking for a high-quality and reliable clipless pedal.

Durable and look great
I've put a few miles on my pedals. I'm currently using them with the Ride Concept Transition shoes, and they work great. A big advantage, in my opinion, is that when I have to pedal through some sketchy areas, I can unclip, pedal, and quickly clip back in. It took me some time to learn how to unclip fast from them. I changed the cleats to the bronze ones, and now they're perfect to use.

Great Mountain Bike Pedal
I needed a hybrid mountain bike pedal for my new enduro bike. Since I have been using CrankBrother cleats, I had few options. I have been riding with the Crankbrother Candy pedals for a couple of year and I do like them a lot but I wanted a pedal with more platform for my enduro bike since I had planned on entering some enduro races with the bike. These pedals have enough grip on my clipless shoes so when I can't clip in, my feet don't pop off. Overall I loves these pedals and will be replacing my Candy pedals on my trail bike!

Solid and reliable product
I purchased these as an option for using my Crank Brothers Mallet BOA shoes. They are smaller than the Mallet pedals but I don't notice any loss of power when pedaling on long rides. I have also used these with Sidi Tiger XC shoes which work well. Those shoes clip in with a bit more effort but eventually work well when they settle in. I ride in very rocky terrain and I have not had much trouble with pedal strikes so the profile is good for that. Easy on/off and easy to service.

LS (long spindle) and regular spindle versions available here
These pedals are AWESOME! I had an old version of the Candy pedals that I upgraded from when I bought my new bike. I wanted something I could clip into when I'm grinding uphill but use the platform with when I need to dab/drag a foot. Make sure you double check what you're ordering against the manufacturer website, as they have both the LS (long spindle) and regular spindle pedals available for sale here. Have been a Crank Brothers fan for a long time and these pedals maintain that. I haven't had these long enough to comment on CB's notorious bearing issues, but the last pair I had didn't have any bearing issues, so I figured I'd try my luck again! My stance already felt pretty good with the regular spindles on my candies so I stayed with the regular spindles to keep my Q factor close to the same. Probably more of a roadie/XC concern, but if you think you want a wider stance after the fact, you can get a long spindle kit separately from Crank Bros.

Nice pedals but customer service is awesome!
I have been using these for over 3 years. At a rough bike park I had one pedal blow out a bearing. Keep in mind I hadn't done much preventive care before the failure. Lesson learned. I got a refresh kit and took them apart to get them going again. Problem was part of the bearing was stuck in the pedal. Some local bike shops turned me down on working on it. Crankbrothers had me send in both pedals and fixed them up like new, besides the physical scrapes and scratches. Two things with the pins, the opening for the allen key can get deformed and I wish they were thinner but that would mean a redesign for the whole pin. Not a big deal. I sometimes like to be clipped in and sometimes not. Great, durable pedals and super customer service.

Very versatile if you want both clipless and flats from one pedal...
I got these pedals for Christmas 2015. I wanted to ride them for a few months for giving a review. I come from riding flats on my mountain bikes and heard from everybody that clipless was the way to go. I had to give it a try, but I have watched my buddy "stop and plop" fall on his clipless often enough that I was a bit reluctant. I paired these pedal with Five Ten Impact VXI Clipless shoes. The combination of the shoes and pedals are very versatile. I wanted a pedal I could ride both clipped in, and as a flat for those sketchy technical sections where I often like to put a leg out.It took me only a couple a rides to get used to clipping in, but a bit longer to get comfortable clipping out. It's easy to unclip, so long as you anticipate when that need will arise. The problem for a new clip rider like me is sometimes if forgot, and plopped over. That's what elbow pads are for :) I have probably fallen a dozen times due to my feet being clipped in when I came to a stop, and I forgot, and leaned the wrong way. All of those incident were at low speed while coming to a stop, not while riding. I have now been riding them for 2.5 months and rarely have that problem. My recent success has been a combination of anticipating when I need to unclip, and getting my muscle memory up to snuff.I like riding these as flats when I hit the rough rocky technical sections where my bike might stop suddenly necessitating a quick foot drop (both uphill and down). At first, I had the pins so low that the center spring was so high that my shoes wouldn't touch the pins. You can ride like this, but it doesn't inspire confidence because the center clip does roll, and although I rarely slipped, it felt like I could at all times. Next, I raised the pins to be taller than the center spring. They rode great as flats, but it was hard to clip in, and really hard to twist out because the pins dug into my shoes too much. I finally hit the sweet spot. I lowered the pins to be just below the center spring in terms of height. Perfect, I can clip in and out at will and ride them like flats when I felt it was necessary.I really do love being clipped in when I am climbing smooth trails or fire roads. It makes a big difference. I have tried regular flats a couple times since, and miss the clippless efficiency. I love being able to switch on the fly to ride these pedals like flats when it gets a bit rough. With the pins adjusted right, they grip very well. I cant emphasize enough how important it is to get the correct shoes if you plan to ride them both clipless and flats. The Five Ten VXI is an amazing combo with these pedals.People who are used to SPD clipless should know there is no tension adjustment on these pedals. You can set the cleats to disengage at either 15 or 20 degrees, that's it. With the pins at the right height, 15 is fine. My local trails are very rocky and technical, otherwise I wouldn't sound like such a sissy about getting my feet out. On the smooth stuff, I have no worries at all.If you are looking for a versatile pedal to use as both clipless and a flat, this has to be one of the best on the market. They are still my everyday pedals. Ride on...
