Thames & Kosmos Exit: The Sinister Mansion Multiplayer Game

I was somewhat disappointed with this game mainly because of the lack of a proper storyline or plot to drive the puzzles forward. We have previously played the escape room games from the Unlock series which we all love, including the very young ones. However EXIT is very different: it is really just about solving a sequence of puzzles. Because there is a lack of background story there is also very little to guide the players towards sensible solutions. So overall, I thought the puzzles lacked context and there was little to go by when trying to find a solution; that makes the experience frustrating instead of challenging and we ended up finishing just for the sake of completing the whole thing. I would recommend instead the Adventure Games series by KOSMOS but, ideally, a combination of both the AS and the EXIT concepts would be my personal preference.

I bought this during lockdown to occupy myself and my friends at home and we absolutely loved it! There’s nothing I could fault about it, and we went and purchased 5 more from the same company cos we can’t get enough! I’d highly recommend this box to start off with. It is a bit challenging but very fun!

If this is your first escape room box, prepare yourself for a long night! It took 2 of us 3 hours using clues for almost all of the puzzles to complete it. You really have to think outside the box (not literally) and some of the answers are a bit of a leap. I think if I were to do another box, I’d have a better idea of what to expect, but this was just confusing to me.

We enjoyed playing this and it really made us think! Great for lockdown and obviously much cheaper then visiting an escape room but from a sustainability perspective, its a shame that it has to be thrown away after play, felt very wasteful!

This is a very good game to play kept us amused for about 3hrs. Only downside is that no one can play this game again and has to be thrown away.
