Way better than regular Iron!
I purchased this after reading a review on a Snowboard Forum. Excellent product.

Great iron!
I decided to start hot waxing our skis this year after using a simple paste wax for the last few years. I had considered just using a cheap clothes iron, but in the end selected this iron after reading up on ski waxing and reading reviews on a number of ski-specific iron. The key points of this iron for me are the nice thick sole plate - nearly 1/2" thick which helps hold heat even when the iron's thermostat is cycling. It also has a good temperature range, starting at 90* C up to 160* C. There are also Min/Max settings, but not sure how exactly those are rated. Maybe the Max setting would work for melting Ptex?Being the typical american I had to do some research on temperature conversion - the iron range is 194* to 320* in Fahrenheidt. The wax I selected to start with, Hertel Super Hot Sauce recommends using 189* F, so the lowest setting works well for that. I ended up creating a little cheat sheet for myself on which each 10* setting relates to in *F. I keep this in my wax/tuning kit for reference in case I change waxes down the road. Also, I'd heard some reports that these irons are always true and/or flat out of the box, but mine was nearly perfect. It does make sense though to check any new iron with a true bar or straight edge to make sure you don't have any high points.

Iron itself works well. Damaged box and clearly a second hand product.
Received a used wax iron. The iron works well so I kept it since I am so tired of returning product to a**zon. Seems they only sell full price used products lately.

Wax on wax off!
As one who has used old clothes irons for applying wax to my XC skis for too many years, I'm thrilled with who much better a an actual ski wax iron works for applying wax to me skis. In the past there was always the problem of too much heat smoked up basement syndrom along with scorched or warping bases, or not hot enough and wax that won't melt or flow properly on ski bases. This iron works so well that I see no reason for the much more expensive ski wax irons unless you're a ski wax technician for professional skiers or something like that. You set a temperature you need for the melt temp. of the wax you're applying and the iron quickly heats up to just the right temp. Better yet, when the iron reaches the temp. you set, it even tells you when it's gotten to it when a green LED lights to let you know it's ready to use. This along with a power on LED, seems more than enough to this old clothes iron user. No more guessing if temp. is too hot or too cold. The grooves in the heated base are a real neat addition as they actually do help to better distribute the wax onto the skis with far less edge spillage while applying the melted wax. I had read about these in the product description, but until I actually used this iron, I didn't believe that these would actually work as well as they do. Note this is a full 800 watt iron and also has a nice thick base plate to help reach and then keep the set temp. due to the increased wattage and mass compared to other wax irons out there that sell for about the same price or even more than this Toko T8 iron. These lesser irons will take longer getting to temp and maintaining set point temp. especially if using iron outdoors in colder temperatures. My only complaint with this iron is that the temp dial indicates set point temp. is underneath the handle with small print used for temp. indication and is kind of hard for at least my older eyes to see what temp. I'm setting it for, unless I put the handle right up to my face to see the gradients on the heat setting wheel as I set it. Other than this one minor complaint, my only regret is that I didn't buy one of these years ago.

Value for money
It does what I need it to do at a very much more reasonable price than many competing products. It has to warm up to a set temperature and melt wax with a flat surface to smooth it out. What more do you need?
