Excellent buy!!
Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Lotion is honestly a game-changer for my skin. I’ve tried so many lotions, but this one just feels different. It’s lightweight, but still super hydrating. I love how it doesn’t leave any greasy residue – it absorbs right away and makes my skin feel instantly smooth and soft. The best part? It’s fragrance-free, which is perfect for me because strong scents usually irritate my skin. With this, I get all the moisture without any irritation. Plus, the oatmeal formula feels so soothing, especially when my skin is feeling dry or sensitive. It gives me this nice, healthy glow without feeling heavy or sticky.Overall, I’d recommend this lotion to anyone, especially if you’ve got sensitive skin like mine. It’s honestly become my go-to for everyday hydration, and my skin has never felt better!

Moisturiser for sensitive skin
This unscented body lotion is perfect for men and women with sensitive skin. It is non greasy and quickly absorbed, leaving your skin silky smooth and soft.I noticed some reviewers say they used it on their face, I have never tried this as the skin on my face is very sensitive and as Aveeno call it Body Lotion I will take this literally.I buy the 500ml bottle as it lasts for ages and works out a lot cheaper than the smaller bottles/tubes.My only slight niggle is with the pump action, on some bottles it just won’t work, no problem though, I replace it with the pump from my old Aveeno bottle.

Still One of the Best—But Not for Everyone
In my experience, Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Lotion has remained a go-to staple for over a decade—its soothing oats, non-greasy feel, and dependable hydration make it near-perfect for my sensitive, dry-prone skin, though I recognise it may not suit those avoiding synthetics entirely.Let’s begin by addressing its core appeal: the formulation. Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Lotion is built around colloidal oatmeal, a clinically recognised ingredient that plays a central role in skin barrier repair. Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and skin-soothing properties that help relieve dry, itchy, or irritated skin. According to numerous peer-reviewed dermatological studies, colloidal oatmeal enhances skin hydration, reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL), and improves the skin’s barrier function within days of use. The lotion also contains glycerin, a humectant that draws moisture into the skin, and dimethicone, a skin protectant that forms a breathable barrier against environmental stressors without clogging pores. What makes this lotion particularly suitable for sensitive skin, including those prone to eczema or psoriasis, is the absence of fragrance and its pH-balancing nature. Fragrance is one of the leading causes of contact dermatitis in cosmetic products, especially for users with reactive skin. By opting for a fragrance-free formula, Aveeno eliminates that risk for most users, making it one of the safest daily-use moisturisers available on the high street. From a textural standpoint, Aveeno strikes an ideal balance between richness and absorbency. It is non-greasy and absorbs quickly, making it practical for morning use when time is short. I’ve personally applied it to arms, elbows, legs, feet, and even areas like the chest and back without any stickiness or transfer to clothing. It leaves behind a velvety, moisturised feel that lasts for hours—up to 24 depending on your skin’s baseline hydration. Unlike heavier occlusives like shea butter or mineral oils, Aveeno never feels overbearing, which is key for use in warm climates or under work uniforms. The product performs just as well in cold environments where dry air tends to dehydrate the skin. In winter months, particularly while auditing facilities with heavy indoor heating, I’ve found Aveeno invaluable in preventing the tight, flaky skin that can plague people working long hours indoors. For those in the industrial or healthcare sector who constantly wash hands or use sanitiser, this lotion restores suppleness and resilience without stinging compromised skin.In terms of application, it is versatile. After showers, before sleep, post-exercise, or as a recovery layer after shaving, Aveeno adapts to the body's changing moisture needs. I’ve even used it as a hand cream when nothing else was available, and it exceeded expectations. Its spreadability is excellent—a single pump covers a wide area—and the 500ml size with a pump top makes it both economical and hygienic.Speaking of the packaging: simple, ergonomic, and functional. The pump dispenses just the right amount to prevent waste, and the translucent bottle allows you to track how much remains. It’s not a flashy product, but it’s clearly designed with real-life use in mind. My colleague, a cosmetic chemist specialising in dermatological testing, remarked that Aveeno hits a unique spot in formulation sophistication without adding unnecessary complexity or cost-driving ingredients.Safety-wise, the product is compliant with EU cosmetic regulations and manufactured under Johnson & Johnson’s strict quality assurance protocols. For anyone in occupational health, this is significant. I’ve seen cheaper lotions used in the workplace that contain irritants, alcohols, or low-quality emulsifiers that increase skin vulnerability over time. Aveeno's composition avoids all of that. That said, it’s not entirely without considerations. While petrolatum and dimethicone are effective occlusives and skin protectants, they’re not everyone’s favourite. Users looking for fully plant-based or comedogenic-free products might want to consider this, though in my experience, the comedogenic rating of this lotion is low enough to not be a problem for non-facial use. It’s less ideal for oily, acne-prone faces, particularly in hot weather, but absolutely fine for the rest of the body.Over the years, I’ve shared this product with a number of people: a colleague with atopic dermatitis, a diabetic friend managing dry skin complications, and a family member going through chemotherapy-induced sensitivity. All of them noted improvements, often within a week of consistent application. It’s not a miracle cream—and it won’t fix deep dermatological conditions on its own—but it acts as a reliable, non-disruptive base product that supports broader treatment plans.Another colleague in cosmetic toxicology once tested several high street lotions for preservative irritation, absorption rate, and skin feel across different ethnic skin types. Aveeno ranked in the top three for every category. What she appreciated most was its formulation stability: after six months of daily use, there were no changes in texture, separation, or odour.I’ve compared it directly with Nivea, E45, Cerave, and even La Roche-Posay. Nivea is thicker but less absorbent. E45 is good for compromised skin but lacks the aesthetic finish. Cerave is a contender, particularly with ceramides, but I find Aveeno spreads better and doesn’t pill. La Roche-Posay offers strong clinical results, but at a significantly higher price point. For cost-to-benefit ratio, Aveeno consistently comes out on top.As for where to apply and when, it’s an ideal all-rounder. On the legs and knees, it prevents post-shower dryness and addresses seasonal ashiness effectively. On arms and elbows, it helps maintain skin smoothness, especially during colder months when central heating is in full swing. For the hands, it’s a reliable post-wash or post-sanitiser recovery product that restores softness without leaving residue. On the feet and heels, when applied nightly, it softens tough skin and prevents cracks from developing. The neck and chest benefit from its gentle formulation, which avoids clogging pores while hydrating delicate skin. Even the upper back and shoulders—areas that can be prone to congestion—handle it well, thanks to its light, fast-absorbing texture that doesn’t interfere with clothing or hair contact. This lotion is best suited to adults with sensitive or reactive skin, mild to moderate eczema or psoriasis, occupational skin exposure to chemicals, water or PPE, ageing skin that’s prone to dryness, and people undergoing medical treatments that impact skin hydration. Each of these groups can benefit from its dermatologically tested, fragrance-free, and barrier-supportive formulation. However, it may not be ideal for everyone. While both are widely used, dermatologist-approved occlusives, they are synthetic compounds derived from petroleum. Dimethicone is a silicone-based polymer that provides a smooth glide and protective barrier, while petrolatum (petroleum jelly) traps moisture to prevent trans-epidermal water loss. These qualities are beneficial for dry or damaged skin, but they may not suit individuals with sensitive acne-prone or oily skin, particularly when applied to the face, chest, or back. Despite Aveeno being marketed as hypoallergenic and tested for sensitive skin, the presence of Distearyldimonium Chloride, a cationic surfactant used as an emulsifier and conditioning agent, can cause irritation in rare cases. According to patch testing studies published in journals such as Contact Dermatitis, quaternary ammonium compounds (to which distearyldimonium chloride belongs) have been linked to allergic contact dermatitis in sensitised individuals. This does not mean it is dangerous—on the contrary, it is widely used and generally safe—but it’s a potential issue for users with known sensitivities to synthetic surfactants or emulsifiers. A clinical cosmetologist colleague of mine, who works with post-cancer patients recovering from radiation therapy, recommends avoiding any lotions with dimethicone and petrolatum during active radiation phases. The reason is not allergenic, but functional—these ingredients may create a barrier that interferes with skin respiration or impede certain treatment responses. Instead, she leans toward low-residue, medical-grade barrier creams that are specifically designed for post-treatment recovery.Aveeno does contain preservatives to maintain shelf stability, and while this prevents contamination, long-term use on damaged or open skin may require consultation with a healthcare provider. For example, applying it to open eczema lesions or abrasions might increase the risk of barrier occlusion and delay natural healing in some patients. Medical barrier creams, which are sterile and preservative-free, are often the better choice in clinical settings. However, after ten years of daily use, I can confidently say that Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Lotion is one of the most balanced, accessible, and trustworthy skincare products on the market. It has stood the test of time, industry comparison, and skin variability. Whether you’re coming from a place of clinical concern, cosmetic curiosity, or just a need for reliable everyday care, this lotion earns its place in your routine. It’s not just good value for money; it’s one of the few high-street products I would vouch for in a professional and personal capacity.

A must for everyone
I love this Aveeno moisturiser, it's suitable for use all over the body including the face, and it's suitable for everyone. It's instantly soothing and moisturisering, it's a thick creamy texture and absorbs into the skin really well. I use twice a day and my skin is soft and smooth, it's perfect to use as an aftersun cream as its not perfumed and can be kept in the fridge for even more of a relief. The pump action is so handy than trying to squeeze cream out of a bottle and is easy to get the desired amount.
