Are all 65 crayon pencils different shades?

There are only 25 crayon pencils, they say 65 piece set because of the paper that they also include. the 25 crayons themselves are all different shades

Are these pencils or crayons ? Description says pencils, picture says either crayons, mini crayons, or pencils.

These are pencils that twist up. When you color though they are more like crayon than pencil. No tips but the lead is thin. It's like they cut the lead with a machine. You can do detail but I did use a big sharpener to get a better tip for a section I wanted to color. Had to be very careful with the sharpener as you could easily break the lead off. They are okay and make a nice addition to the traditional colored pencils. I think they will do nice background coloring.

What size paper does it take, regular 8.5x11 or a special size?

The paper that comes with is not regular size paper. It is more like a 5 by 7 piece of paper but I don't know the exact measurements you can use the pencils with any paper it just won't fit in the case. The paper that comes in the case is smaller than a regular sheet of paper.
