Product Description One of Finland s premier fiddlers, Arto Järvelä has, over the past three decades, been a member of more than ten folk music groups. He's primarily known as founder, composer and arranger of Kaustinen fiddle legends JPP, in action since 1982. Sara Pajunen and Jonathan Rundman of Minneapolis-based duo Kaivama formed in 2010 to explore the music of their Finnish ancestry. Influences alternately ancient and modern, Nordic and American, reveal themselves in Kaivama's sound. Collaborating for the first time on a full-length album, these three musicians create a bridge between Finland and Finnish-America. Review "Be blown away when renowned fiddler Arto Järvelä is joined by Kaivama, a Finnish American group featuring the multi-instrumentalist skills of Sara Pajunen & Jonathan Rundman. Hear Finnish culture in their songs and be amazed at the number of instruments making an appearance." --Cool Cleveland Blog"Finnish folk music expertly played" --Mpls+StPaul Magazine"expertly poised between the old and new aged melodies adorned by modern flourishes" --River Cities Reader

not for Finns only
The first thing to catch my eye was the cd cover! Love it. But the real pleasure came from listening to this one. Also have their first disc (Kaivama) which was a fave, but this next one shows off their musicality at a new level. Having Arto Jarvela is a bonus, but Kaivama by itself plays with such passion and such a variety of tunes that even if you have no Finnish ancestry you'll want to listen to it over and over!

Great music from Finland
I just came back from playing at Scan-Fair in portland. Before I got on stage this awesome duo from Finland played and I was really impressed. They just know some unique music from the far north. They played for about 30 minutes and their performance was tight and enjoyable. Their CD is great as well. I can highly recommend it.
