I think it has a lot of great features for the price
So far I am loving this little stereo (iHome iD38SVC). I think it has a lot of great features for the price. I'm pretty frugal - I paid around $55 & consider it to be totally reasonable & worth the money. I find the sound quality to be quite good even though it is small. I bought it for our bedroom so it's not like I was expecting it to fill the entire house with sound. Plus I wanted it to be small, which it is, so it fits on the nightstand without making it crowded & cluttered. One of my favorite things is that it can charge either my iPod or my iPhone while I sleep. (Mind you I'm cheap & old school so they are probably considered vintage - I think I have the 3g nano & 3gs so it's the old 30 pin style but I think I read other reviews that you can buy adapters for it to work with the new stuff.) I'd definitely recommend this product.

Nice radio, but has some annoying issues
First off, I like the sound of this unit. For it's size, and I was looking for something with a small footprint to put on my night stand, it sounds good. It has good features and controls built in to it. However, I nearly returned it for one very annoying issue: the brightness of the display. It has about 5 or 6 levels of brightness not including "off" for the display, but even the dimmest setting is like a flashlight when the room lights are out! I had this same problem with a Sony radio, but that one sounded like junk also so I stopped using that one. The iHome system also has an iPhone app that you can use, but it's just worthless to me. Using the iPhone app actually deteriorates the functionality, makes it much more difficult to set "sleep time", change the volume, and something else I can't think of right now. But I stopped using the app. The system works better and easier without it. If it weren't for how bright the display is, even at the lowest setting, I would love this little radio. They've stopped making it now from what I've been told, and it's replacement only comes with the new connector for the iPhone 5. I don't understand that move when there's so many people out there with iPhone's and iPods with the previous connector, but that's another issue. I knocked the rating down to 3 stars primarily because of the display brightness, and the problems with their iPhone app. I have the iPhone 4s. With the app, you can set the system to wake up or sleep to a specific playlist which was a big reason I wanted something like this. I was tired of the radio stations I listen to waking me up to some headbanger rock song, even though I like that kind of music during the day, I prefer to wake up gently. If I set my iPhone to a specific playlist before I set it in this system, it will play that playlist. But you have to do this every night. It doesn't remember that playlist after you've taken your iPhone or iPod out of the system for the day.

Great sound, works with my iPod classic.
I would have given a 5 star rating if it came with a remote. The remote is $20 extra and there is a flyer included in the box to order. Great, deep sound. I love that the time syncs with the iPod, some great presets and very bright display.

Another waste of precious materials
Completely unreliable alarm. At least with an i pod. With a i phone it might work better. It worked well for a couple months, then It just became really random when the alarm was actually go off. I was late to work a few times because the the alarm not functioning. I work retail so the 2 5 and 7 day alarms don't fit my schedule, so I always had to program more or fewer days than I actually worked, and my hours change day to to day, so I was having to adjust the time a lot. The really frustrating thing would be when I forgot that I had a say 2 am alarm set for a special early shift, and that alarm would stay silent all through my work week, hence my forgetting it was set. And then on a day off the dang thing would go off a 2 am. If I thought it possible that machines had it out for people I would definitely think this one had it out for me. The couple of months of consistent alarms going off at the right times was great. All downhill after that though.

NOT AN ALARM CLOCK
The sound is OK, but it synces to my I-pod every time I charge or use it with the unit. Since the I-pod goes dead regularly, I'm forced to reset the time on the ipod all the time = pain in the neck. There are two alarm modes BUT, you CANNOT SET IT FOR ONE DAY. The ONLY option is 5 days M-F or 2 days S-S. I work a part time job, so I get up at different times routinely. I've kept the unit for the i-pod for use in our family room, but I had imagined it to be my alarm clock as well - NO CHANCE, does EVERYBODY get up at the SAME time weekly, don't you choose to go in early occasionally? I know I did when I worked a full time job, which I've since retired from....

Sleek, Intuitive, Feature-Filled Dual-Alarm Clock Radio with Digital Tuner
I spent hours looking for an alarm clock as a gift for my boyfriend. It had to have two alarms, a readable digital display, and digital tuner. This clock has it all plus it's attractive. The clock automatically and correctly set the time when we seated my boyfriend's iPod. The digital dimmer makes it possible to sleep without being blinded by the display. The display is very readable even without glasses. I find the user interface pretty intuitive. Use the + button for next or larger and the - button for previous or smaller. Setting the alarms is simple except my initial volume setting was too low. I recommend a setting of 20. One interesting thing about the alarm is that you have a choice of setting the alarm for 2 (weekend), 5 (weekday), or 7 days. I don't think it has a setting for 1 day. It came with batteries, so if there is a power failure during the night, the alarm will still go off on time. The digital tuner for the radio is nice. We played the radio and tunes on the iPod with ease. My boyfriend's only issue is that the the sound quality from a clock that's smaller than a boombox is not amazing but adequate. He'd probably give this clock 4 stars, but I'm giving it 5. I'm thinking of buying myself one.
