Undiscovered Gem!!
This was my first Michelle Valentine book and I can say it won't be the last!So this has been on my TBR for a while. I'm not really sure why I put off reading it for so long. I am glad I did though because it helped me get over my book hangover. Our Heroine is Natalie...She sold her soul to a Demon at the age of 5 to save her Mom's life. Poor little 5 year old Natalie will never forget that fateful day. Flash forward 16 years and you get 20 almost 21 year old Natalie. She's had a miserable life because of her deal with that Demon. Her parents think she's crazy and so does the rest of the town. She used to be popular until word spread that she thought she sold her soul to the devil her Freshman year of high school. Being a social pariah isn't so bad until she starts "secretly" seeing her ex-friend and neighbor Stew over the Summer. They have to keep it secret because his Dad hates Nat and doesn't want his son involved with her.Stew and Nat have a fight when College classes start back up and he doesn't want to go public with their relationship even at school. She thinks he's ashamed of being seen with her. So she breaks it off with him and goes back to being lonely. Enter Hot new guy Rick. He befriends Natalie and she doesn't know why. She tells him the rumors about herself to run him off and he still insists on being her friend. She can't figure out why but she gradually accepts that he wants to be her friend. He wants more than to be her friend though and she's torn because it's not fair to him since she's going to be dead by her 21st birthday. She wants a friend and she doesn't want to die with her Vcard still in tact so she accepts. This book has the right amount of Drama, Humor, Love, Demons and Snarky sarcasm. I didn't find it slow to start as some other reviewers have indicated. I thought it started out pretty fast paced and never let up from page one to the last page. I thought it was well written and the story flowed from one scene to the next. I saw a few grammatical and spelling errors but they were not enough to hinder my enjoyment of the story. Natalie, Stew and Rick's Characters were all well developed and kept me wanting to know more about them.I have 2 reasons for my 4 star review one is actually quite a petty one so don't judge me on this! What kind of names are Rick and Stewart? For real their names annoyed me so bad I couldn't stand it. We have 2 hot guys and these are their names? All the other names in the book were awesome Our heroine Natalie, Alicia Nat's sister, Trevor the douche best friend of Stew's. All awesome names and she gives our two leading hottie's names like Stewart and Rick? Secondly the College setting was more like High school. The professor at one point jumped her case about being late for a class. We all know that when you go to College your an adult and the professors could care less if your late.I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read. It doesn't really have scary parts and it has plenty of witty sarcasm with a few ass kicking moments and some minor romance.Happy ReadingJenn :)

Good, angsty book
First, let me just say that I loved this book up until the soul collecting started towards the end. That, unfortunately felt anticlimactic, and left much to be desired. In fact, one premise was highly, and annoyingly illogical. Up until then, this book was a five star read for me.i loved Nat's angst and the little demon brat that torments her life as her deadline is fast approaching, even though he is, in fact, always courteous, if clueless when it comes to how his behavior is affecting her. She is in fact so traumatized that she is in therapy, and a social outcast. Stew, the boy she has a crush on, even refuses to be seen publicly with her. And while i did connect to her desperation, her character could have been better fleshed out. She has tried to get rid of her demon, but not, umm, like turned to God? Faced with an honest to God demon; wouldn't that be what most people would do?Enter Rick, a bad-boy, grown up version of her demon. Seemingly everything Stew is not, though the secret Stew carries is equally intriguing. Don't worry, demon-Rick isn't a spoiler to anyone but Nat, anyone who does not get this, must have a two digit IQ. He quickly wins her trust and befriends her. Going above and beyond while trying to alleviate her fears of him and her fate. Failing miserably when he inadvertently reveals himself and begins to levitate during sex. (Nice scene. Veery nice. But too short. judging by the title of book number 2, this lack of physical intimacy will be rectified soon;-)) Rick is in fact my favorite character, his need for her, the genuine love he feels, his back story of why he became a demon and chose Nat in the first place is all good. But as much as I love Rick, I still wonder why his child self felt the need to remind her each night of her deal with him, driving her nearly insane with fear. Shouldn't a 200 year-old know that's not the best way to treat a child/adolescent? Instead, he could have befriended her as an adult at a much earlier stage than 20, thereby alleviating her terror. Might have ruined the plot, sure, but it could have been handled better. I mean, he's only had 200 years to figure out the best way to do it, right? What should definitely have been handled better, was the end. To free herself from the deal, Nat will have to collect 3 souls. I wish the deals they struck would have been less black/white, just think that morally questionable deals would have been more interesting, that's all... And the demon that is revealed to have transitioned Rick, jealously tries to make a new deal with Nat, stating that if said demon owns her soul, s/he will always know where Rick is... I beg your pardon; since this demon already owns Rick's souls, why would s/he need to track Rick through Nat???Still, the scene is set for new and interesting twists in book number 2. I will definitely be picking up the second installment in this series as soon as it is published.flag

4/5 stars.
From whirlwindbooks. The moment I found out the amazing Michelle Valentine was writing a paranormal Romance I nearly wee'd myself in excitement. I am a huge paranormal romance fan and so far I have enjoyed everything I have read from Michelle so I knew this was a must read and I knew it was going to be amazing. He lowers himself to a standing position in front of me with ease. "Not just a demon, I'm your demon,"We start off meeting Natalie who as you learn traded her soul with a demon for the life of her mother, at the age of 21 her soul will no longer be her own but what that means she has no idea. All Natalie knows is she will do whatever it takes to try and keep a hole of her soul and keep her life on track."You belong to me now, and I'll be back to get yo after your twenty-first birthday, when the time is right. No one else can touch you until then and I'll always be around to make sure."Natalie has become a loner at school everyone knows her as a freak girl who talks about demons, but one day that appears to change when a new guy comes to her school and seems to take an interest in her and not care about the social stigma that surrounds her."All souls are reborn until they make a deal with a demon and commit themselves to do Satan's work. If you don't make a deal then you just keep getting reborn over and over."Things seem to be looking up for Natalie she meets Rick, He doesn't seem to care that she's a social outcast. Then after everything she has been through comes to find Rick is not at all what he appeared to be. Rick is the very demon her soul was promised to. Now we have a conundrum because now Natalie has a few things to figure out. Like how to save her soul from the demon she promised it to, And at what lengths is Natalie willing to go for releasing her soul."Shut up. I'm serious. I'm really damned.""Not if I can help it. I'll help get you off the naughty list."This book was an excellent debut into paranormal romance from Michelle and I cannot wait to read more from her in this genre, in fact I might even go as far as to say this was the best thing I have read from her yet as I felt I really connected with the story and characters."Stay away from me. You evil bastard!" He steps closer. "I can't. You belong to me. We have to stay together. It's more important now, than ever."This is a story that everyone should read, it ticks so many boxes and for people who are not so keen on paranormal there is also an amazing love story and some rather hot scenes that make you fall in love with Rick and make you wish you had your own version to take home."You need to believe that I love you. You mean everything to me. I'd never hurt you."

Worth spending your money on
I was a bit undecided whether this was a 3.5 or a 4 star read but then I thought what the heck, I was pretty much glued to it to find out the outcome and I read it very quickly.Natalie had a shock with Rick wanting to talk to her when she was let's face it the school's misfit and pretty much left to her own devices. His character was great fun, his dialogue was entertaining and let's face it he was hot with a capital H. Stewart also plays a big part in this book who is also a dream worthy alpha. So that can't be bad we get two hot bods in this book. Although if your like me at one point your gonna want to smack one of them a few times, can't say anymore as I don't want to give it away. This book is pretty hard to review without giving anything away. All I can say is, it's a good take on paranormal and demons, it's written that it hooks you in straight away. It's not full of sex although it does have some 'steam' within. If you like paranormal and a change from vamps then my guess is you'll thoroughly enjoy this book, it is definitely worth spending your cash on.

Demon at my Door.........
An easy read that draws you in and holds the interest throughout. The female protagonist is drawn to two of her collage friends one a neighbor and one she has just met, as she struggles to understand them. Along the way she comes to terms with her feelings and them. Hoping to read more of Natalie, Rick and Stew in the next novel in what promises to be a great series. An enjoyable read.
