Darn Tough Ski/Ride Function 5 Over-the-Calf Padded Cushion Sock - Men's

After 8 days of intensive skiing while using pair of those socks and pair of other polyester socks I can conclude that those are exceptional socks.First of all, the quality of socks is superb, not small and not too large. Sits and feels great on the leg. No wear marks as other stated after few days.The padding on the shin of the socks is actually much better than other my socks (compared w/ what I have), it is just one single padding layer rather than many "small squares" w/ tiny space between them that cover the shin area. I find it much better for minimizing the pressure from ski boot buckles.Because of previously long experience with Merino wool socks for hiking I was expecting at least 3 days of usage before it will start to stink over the tolerable sense. Actually even after 3 days wearing those socks for about 5-6 hours of active skiing and even getting wet due to sweat or snow in boots (and after leaving it for over night dry) they still were OK, no bad smells at all and totally dry. After about 4 days and further it began to accumulate the stink but even then gradually. Regular polyester sock were unbearably stinky after 2 days already.They are also warm enough for minus 0-7C inside ski boot but at about -10C in inactive state I felt my finger toes starting to freeze!Overall I'm very satisfied with those socks, they are great choice for less or about 1 week active skiing. Having one pair of those socks and another 1 pair as backup would suffice. About durability can't say much because used it only for one week.

I skied 2 out of my 3 days of skiing in these socks, and I gotta say I really enjoyed them. I still got blisters/bruises/scabs on my shins, but I think I had my boots too tight, or maybe it's my style of skiing. The padding on the shin of the socks is quite good, so I can't blame the socks. They kept my feet warm which is my main requirement for ski socks. They also are so thick and padded in all the right spots, so they fill your ski boot nicely and snugly. The lifetime warranty is impressive. I also ordered Darn Tough Vermont Men's Merino Wool Over The Calf Padded Ultra Light Socks but I would not recommend them. They were way too thin, I didn't even want to take my chances ruining a full day of skiing by trying the thinner pair. So I wore this pair twice, and a cheaper brand called Wigwam the other day. Both these and the wigwams did the job very well. The wigwams were about half the price though, but these kept my feet a bit drier than the wigwams, if I had to compare the two. If you can afford it, I would buy one pair of these, and let them dry after each ski day, and use them again. They're tough, and they'll keep your feet warm, dry, and comfy even deep into freshly powdered snow (within a ski boot of course).

These are some amazing socks! I had been looking for something that checked all the boxes of comfort, warmth, fit and quality/durability. These definitively check all those boxes. I’m 6’4” and have a size 13 shoe. The XL was a perfect fit.After hitting the hill I was immediately struck by the strategic padding, epic comfort, and not even an inkling of cold reaching my toes. These are officially my forever socks!

My feet get cold during 8 hours on the mountain. These socks are well insulated and provide great padding.

I was looking for a boot sock for motocross boots. I wear the Darn Tough brand for my normal everyday socks, so was happy to find that they also make a tall boot sock. They are perfect and will work out great.

Nice warm socks of high quality. Order 1 size bigger as they fit snug. A size bigger will be easier to get on and off. But hey, lifetime guarantee!

First time skiing ever -- these socks are awesome. I wear size 12 shoes, and while they felt a bit tight (compression) at first while trying to put on, they ended up being exactly the right size and working really well for a full week at Jackson Hole WY. Ended up buying 2 more pairs.

So far the best socks ever purchased. True to size. Fits snug. Padded in all the right places. Warm. Great for work boots or a day out. Best socks ever owned. Slowly replacing all his other socks, these are by far his favourite. Tried one other pair of their socks and these are his favourites!! Worth the money.

I bought these after skiing this year without them...(.and my feet froze.)..hence these are for next year, but they look and feel great quality, so I have every hope they will be excellent and keep my toes nice and toasty.....I read a lot of reviews about these and they are expensive, but I'm hoping they will be well worth the money.

Fit pretty good all over except the calf area is a little tight but overall feel great.
