This PIR is very well designed which makes it very easy to install. It is a very solid construction so no worries on handling to attach the blinds or adjust for Lux or Time duration. The adjustments are carried out using dials with good finger grips and not the usual small screwdriver slots. After installation, great disappointment as it did not work and despite checking and re-checking the wiring, the unit appeared completely dead. Removing the unit for return I then started reading the older reviews, which I should have done initially. That revealed/suggested that the wiring colours are not as expected and the Black PIR wire is the UK LIVE MAINS INPUT and the Brown PIR wire is the switched supply to the security lights. Just switching these two wires was all that was needed to get the unit working. The Box contains an external 90 degree corner bracket, all the screws and plugs of very good quality for fitting. The 'blinds' for restricting the covered area are of superb design and ample quantity. Fitting the blinds is an easy process as with minute adjustment if necessary. As the Instruction book is monochrome, it is a good idea the write in the colours of the wires on the wiring instructions for future reference

I bought this sensor last year to replace a broken sensor on my shed's security light. Last year I paid roughly £40 for this sensor.I have to say I wasn't particularly impressed with this product. There was very little room inside the sensor housing to place the wires (I was using Wago terminal blocks to connect wires). Also, once installed, it wasn't really possibly to point the sensor down to the ground much; the consequence of this was that I got a lot of false alarms from people walking along the footpath that runs down the side of my garden (> 3m away).I cannot believe the price of this product today (more than £70!!!!). There are much cheaper sensors out there that are better than this one. In fact I've just purchased one at £14 to replace this sensor which was stolen in a robbery last weekend (I had my shed cleared out by thieves). So far the £14 replacement is working a lot better than this device.

Steinel sensors are expensive and this is the second one I’ve bought. It replaces the first one which lasted just over 5 years before it developed a mind of its own and started switching my security light on and off repeatedly annoying my neighbours. I could have replaced it with a much cheaper option but that would have meant changing the special corner bracket it was mounted on and probably changing the wiring etc. I hope this one lasts, I won’t be buying another!

Excellent PIR. This was bought to replace a 15 pound PIR which was very insensitive. Many years ago i only ever fitted Steinel PIRs and this reminded me why. It is very compact but with sufficient space for wiring etc. Great that time and lux sensors can be adjusted with fingers rather than small screwdriver. Wiring needs attention as colours take a little getting used to.My particular purchase was misssing the bezel that covers the adjustment controls, however this was replaced next day by Amazon.

Although in the pics this looks like (and is priced like tbh) a powder coated metal casing, in reality it's actually just poor looking cheap plastic. If you're paying extra over a bog-standard PIR hoping for something with a nice finish, then I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
