Great folding scooter -- our four year old is delighted!
We bought this as a birthday gift for our daughter who recently turned four. She has been asking for a scooter since she was 2, so she was thrilled to get it. She seemed particularly delighted by the color and the large wheels, both of which stand out from most of the smaller-wheeled, silver scooters the other neighborhood kids have.We wanted the large wheels to reduce the likelihood of sudden stops if she hits a twig or pebble in the road. These wheels seem to fit that bill perfectly, since they appear to roll smoothly over all the typical road debris (little bits of asphalt, cracks in the pavement, pine straw in the road, etc.). She hasn't had any problems in that regard. The handlebars adjust very easily up and down. At the lowest position, it seems to fit her well at age 4, but I suspect she could ride this scooter for the rest of her life, since even at my adult 6' height, it can adjust to an acceptable fit (except that I exceed the 145 lbs. weight limit, of course). The deck is slightly bowed upward to handle the weight of the rider; in practice, it also seems to act as a slight shock absorber (since my daughter is so light), flexing lightly to absorb some shocks as she goes over a rough patch. The handlebars are coated in a soft foam like some bike handles. The front wheel/neck/handlebars rotates a full 360 degrees so you could probably do "tricks" if that's what you're wanting. And there's a friction brake over the back wheel for slowing yourself down without having to stop cold. The folding mechanism to fold the scooter up for storage takes some getting used to. The latch is stiff and has to be pressed with some force. I don't think my daughter's fingers are strong enough to operate it, but that's fine, since she doesn't really need to fold it up anyway. But when I take it in and out of our garage, I fold it open or shut, and always try pressing the latch both directions (thinking it isn't working) until I remember it's stiff and needs quite a lot of pressure to release. That's probably good for safety reasons as well. It doesn't seem likely that this scooter would ever fold up while in use to cause an accident, which is probably why the latch is made so stiff. I like that it folds, since it makes it very easy to stow this scooter in a car (to take it to the park) or garage (to store it).All in all, this is a great scooter for almost any child 4 and up. You'll want a good helmet, of course, since falls are very likely (and probably frequent) as the child first gets accustomed to the balance and feel. And the pink color is very pleasing looking--especially to a little girl!

Cadillac for Kidz
I would compare riding this scooter equal to riding a Cadillac as opposed to the other scooters which probably compare to riding a MG Midget. When we got the box home, we pulled the scooter out, made the adjustments in about 20 seconds, and off my 8 year old daughter went. Her first words were "Wow, this rides so smooth." When we intiailly ordered the scooter, we were a little worried she would not like it because of the oversized wheels and broader base board. We knew that it was different from what the other kids usually played with (little wheels and thin foot board), however, once on the sidewalk riding down the hill in style and smoothness, it didn't make any difference. We new right away that she loved it. Several comments by other parents were made and they were all very impressed with the design and liked the broader base because of the added stability and balance.I especailly enjoyed the item during my routine run which includes going up and down small hills on a paved trail thru the woods. The previous scooter's tiny thin frame and smaller wheels made it virtually impossible for my daughter to keep up with me during my run. Now when she tires, because of the added balance and larger wheels on this scooter, I feel more comfortable taking the handle and pulling her along as she rides comfortably standing with both feet on the scooter. It get a better workout, she gets a fun smooth ride. Recently, we added a clip-on water bottle to the upright in case we got thirsty for the hot days and so far, we both like the change and we both enjoy spending the added time together outdoors.

Extra Benefit
I got this Scooter for my 7 year old girl. Not just because all the neighbor girls had a razor, but because I realized it might help with her balance. Wow! did I make the right call on that.About a year ago I took the training wheels off her bike; needless to say, she wrecked and it was traumatic. Since she has refused to try again. It was my daydream fear of her being one of those adults who can't ride a bike. The scooter however, has been a huge benefit in developing her balance on two wheels. After about two nights of riding it she is all over the place, with no fear and doing very well. As a father I don't feel like such a failure to teach my kid the art of two wheel balance anymore. Now she is ready to go for the bike again and join the rest of her age group riding around. This scooter is well built, has a much better foot deck than the original models. The large wheels are so much better for handling cracks in the sidewalk and bumps in the street. Very pleased with this purchase!
