This brush brings a nice presentation in its included box and elegant plastic wrap. The weight distribution of the brush is somewhat different than others that I have used however provided additional benefits that I had not previously sought and were incidental findings during product testing.Notable features:-Heavy handle-Beautiful Ivory handle with company engraving-Loft approximate equal to handle height-Weight distribution heavily favoring knot-Moderately soft on initial use-Animal odor (common on new shave brushes - i.e. not a negative comment)For those who have experienced the animal odor that accompanies a new brush, this is no surprise bit for those who have not, this is fairly common. I recently received a brush from a different manufacturer who recommended the following remedy which proved to be extremely effective:1) Add one teaspoon of powdered OxyClean to 1 pint of water2) Soak brush for 5 minutes in the solution and rinse thoroughly.3) Repeat steps 1-2 (3x)4) Wash the bristles in shampoo for 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly5) Allow a day to dryThis procedure virtually eliminated the odor in the brush that I received then as well as this one and thus has a proven track record of success.-The loft appears quite bunched together when you receive it in the mail which I presume is a result of never having been used as well as the plastic wrapper which forms it to this shape. Do not worry. After the cleaning procedure above as well as after the first use, this will no longer be an issue.-The unique weighting brought challenges to my pre-shave brush soak since it is significantly heavier on the handle, it wanted to fall over into the water that way. I remedied this by placing another brush in the water beside it, closing the gap so to speak.-The bristles were not astonishingly soft as you may have encountered with many finely made silver tip brushes however they were not harsh by any stretch of the imagination.-The handle diameter was quite standard which I say only for those who hand their brush on a stand. There should not be any problems here.-Building a lather was a strength that I believe is worth highlighting. I felt that it built a lather rather quickly as compared with some silver tips I have used however like most other things, for every positive there is a subsequent downside. For this model, I found that it did not hold as much water (thus lather) as I am used to and so I had to lather the brush for each shave pass. A mild inconvenience that I mention only to be thorough.All in all I found this brush to be very user friendly. It is incredibly pleasing to the eye as it is obvious that aesthetic appeal was something that was given extraordinary consideration in its development. My husband is a soap shaver. When I saw this I was so impressed. The handle is so pretty and feels really nice. The weight is really nice as well. The bristles didn't shed at all when I pulled on them, though occasional shedding is normal with these brushes. It came in a really nice box and was wrapped in bubble wrap inside the box. I'm very happy with the quality of this brush and my husband also seems very happy with it as well. He hasn't used it yet, but I will update this review when he does.Update 2/15/2017: I gave this to my husband for Christmas and he was SO impressed by the quality of the brush. I knew I was impressed when I got it, but I'm just a girl, what do I know, right?! He's the one who uses one of these almost every day, so his opinion was the one that really mattered. He swapped out the one he was using for this one, and the one he was using was a pretty expensive one his dad had gotten for him from some super expensive shaving shop. He said he likes the shape of it, and that it feels comfortable to hold. He also says the bristles are really nice and lather up the soap well. He's been using it a month and a half now and is really happy with it. It really is a beautiful piece and looks so pretty hanging on the bathroom counter. I've also noticed there's little to no shedding of this one. Usually with his other brush there were brush hairs in his shaving bowl quite often, and I've seen one so far from this one. I'm considering purchasing another to have on hand in case anything happens to this one and picking up one for his dad as well!

I was really excited by this brush initially. The bristles are very soft, even right out of the box. The handle has a nice weight and feels great in my hand. I started the break-in process with a warm water soak, dish soap cleaning, and then by lathering shave cream and letting the brush sit overnight. All very standard.When I woke up the next morning, I went to rinse the brush. As soon as I stuck it under the warm running water, the knot fell out of the handle and the brush fell apart. I'm incredibly disappointed with the overall quality of the construction of the brush and won't be replacing it.

Use it everyday, soft but firm enough to work up a lather. Been using it for a few months and it does shed. Description says otherwise but 2 or 3 bristles a day in the sink is less then what I was getting from my old 25 year old brush. It's weighty, especially against my plastic handle of the old brush but that's a good thing in my book. It feels like your holding something of high quality.I would buy again if I live long enough to wear this one out.

I'm sorry to say I have to have to give this brush a 2 star review after owning it a month. Mine had the same issue as Jennifer in her 2 star review. Whatever the adhesive is that held the bristles into the handle simply could not stand up to expanding and shrinking from being soaked and dried. It's too bad too because everything else about this brush is a 4 star to me.

After a month of use it broke into two pieces. It's a nice design just not a very lasting one unfortunately.

This is a much better looking brush than my cheap one that came with my soap. But it doesn't perform it's job near as well. The bristles don't hold soap as well.

I gave it to my son and he was thrilled with it.
