GamakatsuSC15 Wide Gap Saltwater Hook, 12 Pack, Size 8, Gold, Needle Point

I regularly fish inshore species in SE and SW Florida. Tarpon, Snook, Speckled Trout, Redfish, Jack Crevalle, Snapper, Grouper, Mackerel....quite a bunch of powerful fish with either sharp teeth or sharp gill plates. I show up prepped with 50lb fluro leader and these hooks (size 2/0) armed and ready on all my rods. My hookup rate has GREATLY increased using these Gamakatsu hooks. The metal alloy is light enough to not weigh down live bait and is PERFECT for jigging shrimp thru their tail. They stay incredibly sharp and have proven their toughness pulling in some serious fish time and time again. This is my hook of choice and just ordered 3 more packs. I've also used these in South Florida's amazing freshwater canals / lakes and same results: Peacock Bass, Alligator Gar...you name it....they don't stand a chance of shaking off. Try em'!!

Nice and sharp but too thin for tough fighters like bonefish that will straighten it out. More like a panfish weight hook.

The SC15 is my go-to wide gap hook for tying redfish, trout and snook flies. The wide gap allows me to build a little more bulk into my shrimp and baitfish patterns without sacrificing real estate for a reliable hookset. This hook is also incredibly strong for how thin it is and I can put a lot of pressure on a fish without worrying about my hook straightening out. As with all gammie hooks they're super sharp out of the box and don't require much touching up as you use them.

Have used this hook for striper flies in SF Delta and Havasu; sharp and strong; have not tested on fish over 10 pounds but should not be issue.

Everything as expected

The design of these hooks is interesting in that the barb is small and is easy to remove, but I've caught quite a few striped bass on them without losing any fish that we solidly hooked.

CHEAP LOOKING , NO AS SHOWN IN PICTURES, ABSOLUTELY NOT GOOD FOR SALTWATER

I could not find this hook locally and was tying flies for albie fishing. Amazon had it and fish were caught. Good all around.

I have been having problems with Tarpon opening up my Daiichi hooks, but the Gamakatsu hook design should eliminate that.
