I wanted this phone for my elderly parents who have trouble hearing. Large buttons was the main factor, but we also liked the picture one-touch buttons when we saw that feature. We were replacing a large-button corded phone when it broke.For reasons I can't understand, the manufacturer chose to make the base and handset of this device two separate phones. It even says in the manual "the base and handset are separate." If you add a phone book entry to the base, do you see it on the handset? No. If you add a phone number entry to the handset, can you see it on the base? No. But, the worst part to me is the process you need to go though if you want to dial with the base, and talk on the handset: You enter the number or use speed dial, then press Speaker on the base to make the call, then lift the handset and press the green Talk button, then press Speaker again on the base to transfer the call to the handset. My elderly parents are never going to remember such a silly process.In addition, there are WAY to many buttons and settings. A feature-rich phone I can understand, but my 85 year old father who was a math professor couldn't figure this phone out after reading the 100+ page manual.I will say, aside from all of the above, the phone functions just fine. I mean, it makes calls, you talk on it, the answering machine works, etc. But, it's just too complicated. Even if it wasn't too complicated for them, had I bought this for me, I would also be returning it.

Terrific for seniors-- however much easier for them to receive than make calls. Receive only requires picking up handset and talking. Calling out-- use speaker button, then dial or push picture button, when someone answers, pick up handset and push green button, then push off speaker button. My mom had trouble with that sequence. She also could not see photos clearly, the buttons need to be huge. But were going to use colors to represent people instead of photo. Also know that the seniors cannot set this up themselves. But the amplification and clarity are quality! Recommend,--but there are still issues with ease of use---things that I'm sure the company could fix in New products.

Both of my parents have difficulty hearing. As a result, they both avoid talking on the phone. When this phone was tested over Christmas, I had initially set it on the high amplification. My mom had to place the phone away from her ear because it was so loud. Perfect for my dad but had to adjust for my mom.Some of the settings aren't that easy to use but the high amplification trumps all of these minor flaws for my purposes.

I got the phone, in January 22 currently April 22 and it's making an empty noise with some static. I can't get a refund or exchange. That is very sad because this phone is the only way I use to communicate with everyone.

I bought this phone for my adult daughter who is blind. Very nice phone. I'm in my 60's so my eyesight not that goodalso so I like the big buttons on base unit. I have the phone plugged into my cable modem.

I thought I really researched this phone before buying. Needed easy phone with speed dial and answering machine for elderly relative. Not a good choice. The base and the handset are separate components. Each has unique setting and keys that do not apply to the other. Very confusing. The speaker and microphone work very well. Almost too well as they pick up every background noise. Would like to return it.

This loud phone with large print and photo identification speed dial is so easy, my technologically impaired family can use it.

sorry but I now have to replace that unit which sounds terrible. I have a very big internet pipe, yet this unit did a terrible job at replacing my previous phone which was great compared to this.
