Good baking requires good buttermilk. I grew tired of either having buttermilk on hand, but knowing I would never use it all or not having it around and making substitutions. This is the best of both worlds. I used it this week to make Irish soda bread and was very impressed with both the flavor and rise of the bread. This is a real game changer.

This stuff is fantastic..My husband and I both love Ranch Dressing on our salads. It tastes just like Ranch Dressing in the restaurants. Is how I prepare it is that I use Lactose Free Whole Milk instead of water. By using the lactose free milk it stays fresh much longer then regular whole milk. It may cost a little more then regular whole milk but it says in your fridge much longer. I measure 1 cup of Lactose Free Milk and the butter milk powder as directed and I heat it up until it starts to boil. I remove it from the heat and let it cool off. You don’t want to leave it on the heat any longer otherwise it will thicken up real fast. You want to get the right consistency as how Buttermilk is. Let it cool completely then add your mayo and Ranch Seasoning and chill. If it’s too thick add sone more milk to it. Pour very little at a time until you get it to the right consistency then I add very little of the buttermilk powder , mix then chill. You’ll have your Ranch Dressing right there.Don’t forget it will stay fresh for a long time when using the Lactose Free Milk. Is what I do is mark the expiration date of the milk or the mayo. Which ever one expires first. Hope you’re all reading this and try this out if you’re a ranch dressing lover. Bon Appetite.

The value in this product is a very, very long shelf life relative to the liquid version one buys from the dairy case. I used it in baking and found it performs perfectly well. If you routinely have regular milk in the refrigerator you can make an equally useful buttermilk by blending in 1 teaspoon of vinegar (distilled or cider) for each cup of milk in your recipe.

This is much more convenient than using liquid buttermilk in my bread baking. It just keeps longer. However, I have found that is clumps in the canister after a while. My solution is to just pulse what I need in the coffee grinder to get it back to a fine ground.

I love using buttermilk in many recipes but having to go out and buy it fresh was a pain. Then, America's Test Kitchen recommended this buttermilk powder so I bought it. It's amazing. Now, I can have great buttermilk for my recipes whenever I want without having to go to the store for it. Most highly recommended.
