The Hamilton Beach BrewStation has the innovative dispensing method that makes carafes obsolete. Dispense one cup at a time and keep the rest of your coffee hot without scorching. Removable reservoir makes filling the coffee maker easy and mess free. Consumers should use the brew tank to measure and fill water for their unit to avoid overfilling the water reservoir. Ummm... Pass. Here's why.
I bought this same model coffee maker in 2009 @ a big box store. I still have it, well, my girlfriend does. It was all I could ask for as a bachelor. It was fast enough, small enough, and had a timer. Oh, and it made coffee. The problem is that the new one, is well.. Junk. The old one was worth a solid $30. Maybe a little more. The new one you see, discounted at around $20, is really only worth $20, at best. Even at that price, please trust me, just buy something else.Reasons:The old one is solid to this day. The "Hamilton Beach" branding has worn off, but the lid, hinge, and trays ALL fit snugly and securely with no wobble or wiggle. The new one wiggle all over. Small thing you say? "No says I". It's incredibly cheap, to the point of having to say, "even at $20 this thing is cheap".The coffee? Mediocre and inconsistent. Hot one moment, lukewarm the next. Oh, yeah.. Maybe mines defective? Nope ha ha. I did an exchange. The same problems persisted. So all in all, please skip this, you may not know it, but they are selling you a poorly constructed, inconsistent coffee maker and ripping you off. There is no foreseeable reason that a 5 year old version of the same thing should outperform a brand new unit.Sorry for the rant, I had been meaning to write this though and it's a snow day and I was drinking coffee. Best of luck.

My Favorite Coffee Maker EVER...
I have owned one of these units for ten years plus. I’m on my third, and I’m about to replace my Keurig at work with a Hamilton Beach Brewmaster.I love coffee.I own Keurigs, French presses, a Senseo, and have tried numerous expresso & other single serve systems. At the end of the day, the Brewmaster makes the most consistent cup of coffee, with minimal monetary cost and effect on the environment. With heavy usage, I find they last me 3-5yrs each. The unit itself isn’t the sturdiest plastic or the most attractive appliance, but holds up well over time. I don’t use the clock or automatic setting, so I can’t attest to that aspect. If you don’t mind a drip unit, this is the most affordable and consistent coffee maker on the market!PS...After reading other reviews, my tip is to buy junior coffee filters (not 8-12 cup) and add three scoops of your favorite grind (not fine) and fill water to the six cup line. And yes, I do keep a glass clear tray under my Brewmaster in case I overfill and have a water leak.

The best part about it, is that it makes a fantastic cup of coffee.
I ordered this a year ago. It's a good buy for $25 and has held up well. The best part about it, is that it makes a fantastic cup of coffee. I'm from Louisiana and drink my coffee straight black. I use three slightly heaping 2TBS (1/8 cup) scoops to make the full 6 cups. It for some reason makes a better cup than my Black and Decker 5 cup carafe style. When full, it is the perfect amound for two 16oz travel mugs. I usually have one at home and take one to go.With that said, the method of making coffee is just slightly more of an inconvenience than a standard carafe pot. The filter basket has a little flimsy handle, that if not moved out of the way, will flop down and catch the end of the filter full of old grinds when turned upside down, causing it to miss the trash can and make a mess. Be careful if you're still a little groggy in the morning. Removing the handle would make the assembly a little difficult to get out of the reservoir because it tucks in flush with the outer edge. The reservoir has a heating element, so you can't put it in the dishwasher, it rinses out fine, but it'll build up a stain if not scrubbed. I don't scrub it and maybe mine is seasoned and that's why the coffee is so good. The reservoir is marked for 2/4/6 cups with notches on the inside. It will hold a little more if you have guests, but don't get too carried away.It doesn't leak, but filling a travel mug can be difficult, so you'll need to move the pot to the end of the counter to tuck the cup up underneath the unit. The lid holds a lot of moisture and can collect some grinds, so you may need to occasionally pop it off and wipe it down. It get hot quick and makes a good bit of steam, so you may not want to place it under your wood cabinets. It does the job rather quickly and will make a very audible gurgling sound when nearing completion of brewing, which I don't mind bc it's a nice cue to let you know it's time. You can always grab a cup early since there's no carafe to remove, but I like to let it finish completely and mix well so the first cup isn't too strong and the second cup isn't too weak. The clock keeps good time and of course the auto shut off is always a save.

This is the perfect size for me
This is the perfect size for me. I am the only person in the home that drinks coffee and at 2 cups a day, I brew once and am set. I find getting the coffee filters that fit this more challenging. They need about a quarter of an inch cut off the top of them, if you buy the standard size. There is one seam that leaks when I pour liquid out of the brewed container part. That is a pain when you use that to full the reservoir. I would also like to see a marking on the inside where to fill with water for filling the resevoir. Those are my issues with it.I love the size and the programmable features. Set everything up and presto! Your coffee is awaiting you in the morning. Love that!

Okay for the price
I guess this is fine for what I paid for it, but this is not a great coffee maker. First, you really need to wash the thing out well, and run a few batches of water through it first, in order to get rid of the plastic taste. It would be much better if the "carafe" were lined with stainless steel instead of plastic in that regard. Also, you cannot tell when it is done brewing, the lid and most of the components feel very cheap and fragile, and because of the design of the water tank area, it's very difficult to pour water into the tank without spilling. Also when it's in "keep warm" mode it seems to be nearly boiling the coffee, which is not ideal. I am probably going to replace this with the larger 12-cup model that I know from experience is a better-built coffee maker. But again, for the price, I guess it isn't bad.

My favorite coffee maker!
Love this coffee maker! Had it threw it away for a Keurig, which I hated, gave it away and repurchased. It’s the best. It does leak sometime but still love it

Look at the other models first.
I had to return this almost immediately. Very cheaply made. It was leaking majorly from the bottom from where the main plug comes out of.
