The comic book artist brush

I reviewed this brush for the Night Phoenix Press Youtube channel and love it. I do badgirl and urban fantasy comics and the Winsor & Newton Series 7 brushes, are a staple for inking in the comic book industry. I was using mainly an ink brush and liners and I can honestly say it's the best brush I use. My Silver Black Velvet is the runner up and of course my brush pens, but I love working with this brush. I'm using the 3 round mini now, but I do plan to get a standard 1 or 2 round. I use these with sumi ink, but they work best with Carbon Black, Karkos and Ultradraw. The Zig sumi is decent as it's a little thinner than Yasutomo in my experience. I haven't tried it with watercolor yet as I bought it for inking.-Nathyn Brendan MastersNight Phoenix Press Youtube Channel

Good quality

Windsor and Newton paint brushes are top quality. I do love how they hold the paint in the belly and let the paint glide off the tip. I suggest if you paint anything try these paintbrushes. I use acrylics. They clean up easily with professional paintbrush cleaner and cool water. The tips are as sharp now as they were 10 models ago.TIPS for caring: I do take very good care of my brushes. True of any paint brush, If for some reason they begin to become misshaped try reconditioning them. Store tip down while drying. Don't dip the paint past the hub. Clean with soap as you turn. Reshape tip every time. Never jam brush in the bottom of your rinse bowl.

Winsor & Newton Series 7 - Game changer

I'm fairly new to the miniature painting scene (pun intended), so my experience is limited. I'm not an artist, and the bulk of my knowledge has come from YouTubers and friends with 20+ years experience painting minis.Having said that, I have used the D&D branded Army Painter brushes for my first few minis, and found them to be adequate. On the suggestion of a friend, I treated myself to two Winsor & Newton Series 7 brushes: #3 and #000.He wasn't kidding when he said "treat yourself". The difference in control and application of acrylic paint is a night and day difference. I still need lots of practice, but this brush has improved the quality of my paint jobs and helped me feel a lot more confident in painting other very detailed minis.I got the brushes on sale and feel like I got a very good deal. At full price (about $20 - 25 depending on brush size), it's still worth it in my opinion because of the quality of the brushes, which translates to quality paint jobsIf you're starting out, don't cheat yourself with crummy or even adequate paintbrushes. Spend a little more on the Winsor and Newton Series 7 brushes, and it'll make a big difference in learning how to paint and in your enjoyment.Additionally, do yourself a huge favor and watch videos on how to maintain your brushes. You'll want to purchase brush soap as well. I use the Masters, which is also available on Amazon.

Fine, short, fat miniature brush.

Nice quality brush, but not the one I was hoping for. This one is shorter than the ones I'm used to buying. Just calling that out in case anyone else is looking for the short round handled, Series 7 Kolinsky Sable W & N miniature brush. There are 2 types. I'm never really clear which one is which in store listings. But this one is the short one.The bristles measure about 1 cm, opposed to about 1.5cm, which is what I was hoping for.

Brush has been splitting since I bought it.

Either I received a bad one or this one was used before it got to me. I've had it for 2 years but only used it a handful of times due to the splitting. I can get through maybe 3-4 brush strokes before the entire head just splits. I have like 4 year old cheap Citadel brushes that i've used many more times are in way better shape. My Winsor and Newton smaller brushes work pretty good though.

The Best

Series 7 brushes are the best. Some how I received a “miniature” brush. I thought I was ordering a full size #3

No longer high quality

Hate doing low-star ratings, but sometimes it’s necessary. Very disappointed with this brush. After one use it simply won’t hold a point, which is what it was meant to do. Even after using some gum arabic overnight, once used, the bristles splay and won’t form a clean point. Quality is not what it use to be, that’s for sure.

the ad shows 15 brushes but you only get one for $35.00.

My grandson liked this brush for his birthday but ad shows 15 brushes and you only get one brush for $35.00 which I thought was too high.
