Helpful Accessory
Laser alignment is a helpful accessory if not already built into the drill press. I referred to somevideos to supplement the instructions. The thick step of the support post should be contacting the drill press column - and not the plate. The two support posts will be contacting the column in four places for a square attachment. (The various curved shapes of the plate are for clearing the drill press column). Some videos may be suggesting iterations to complete the calibration, and my experience involved two iterations, first the Z-axis followed by the X-Y adjustment, then repeated again. I found the LED light on my drill press optically overlays with the laser light to provide a more refined laser crosshair.

Good drill press upgrade
Contrary to some information, this laser can do z-axis, which means it remains aligned if you change table height or materials with different thickness. The lasers are clearly visible, even too bright in the darkness, I recommend using a lamp to light the workspace.Easily mountable, adjustable and usable. Recommended purchase.

Great upgrade for Vintage Delta
This laser guide is perfect for my rebuilt 1955 Delta 17-600 drill press. It fits up tightly under the head unit and stays out of the way. The mount is very rigid and I did use the included extension because my press is large. I built this press as a major upgrade from the modern press I was using but that one had a laser guide built in so I was very happy to discover that Wixey made this unit to be retrofitted to presses without one. I have several Wixey products in my shop so I knew the quality would be good. Though it looks a little dim in the photos, the laser lines are bright and very visible. Follow the simple instructions to fine tune your adjustment and it will be spot on. Another reviewer mentioned that he replaced the batteries with a 3v power supply and that's what I did. Now I don't have to worry if I leave it on and I won't be spending a ton on batteries. It would be great if Wixey offered a corded version of this unit for us professionals. Batteries or no, this is a great laser guide.

Accurate if installed properly
I added this laser guide to my new Nova Voyager floor standing drill press. It is a nice addition that comes in handy from time to time. It is accurate and maintains the correct position, even when the drill press table is moved up or down, if installed according to the easy to follow instructions. Many reviewers here or people answering questions above say it has to be readjusted if you move the table, but that isn't true if you just follow the instructions. It only takes 5 minutes. I'm only giving 4 stars, however, because I would like the product even better if the laser lines were 1/2 or 1/3 thinner than they are. As is, I use the laser cross hairs to get (very) close to the drill location and then dead on by lowering the bit to the work piece before turning the drill on. Also, it would be a much better product if it turned off automatically after some specified time. As is, if you forget to turn it off, it will eventually exhaust the batteries. Glad I bought it, but it could be a little better.

excellent upgrade for pre-laser drill press
Handy, takes the guesswork out of lining it up and a fantastic upgrade for my old but good $25 garage sale drill press. Laser is sharpest at midrange, line gets a little wider at very short and very long distances (closer is better) but was not a significant issue for me since I'm limited to short and midrange anyway. Depending on how high you mount it and how close the support column is to the drill bit and where the top of the column is relative to your chuck, you might not be able to use it at extreme short distances; with the table raised all the way up for my very smallest drill bit the lines don't quite touch unless I lower the table (reducing the depth the bit could drill). Clearance could be problematic, I have roughly zero clearance between the battery compartment and the depth stop, which slides against while touching the battery compartment door but JUST works. It would not have fit my model drill had I needed the extension plate. I also wasn't able to mount it all the way up the support column because I would be unable to open the battery compartment door, had to keep it down slightly. Can't comment on longevity or if it is affected by vibration since I will be using it very infrequently. Make sure you mount it with the two round pegs both touching the column (and the plate isn't touching), otherwise it will of course not clamp on correctly and would tighten up at a weird angle.
