Hi! You need to drill holes to attach so you won't have the problem it will fall off. The screws won't be visible, it brings a nice cover that won't show the screws.

Does the glue mess up the walls?

We did not use the glue to attach. We used the screws with the plastic anchors to attach as we were attaching to the drywall above our tile.
