I plan to use these on my sailboat for night sailing (once the weather warms up). Initial impression is that these will be plenty bright, even for task lighting at night. Could be too bright depending on how large the space is that you're trying to illuminate My only complaint is that (if I remember correctly), these consume 1W. That may not seem like much, but it's quite a bit for a small LED. Probably would be just fine at 1/2 the brightness and lower wattage. This only matters to be because on a small sailboat, where every Watt-hour counts.

These were brighter, bulkier, and ran warmer than I expected. The reason for the four stars is that there are more compact LEDs on the market. I purchased it for use under the dash in the center console area of my car plugged into a 12V cigarette socket where it provides indirect light that doesn't interfere with night driving. I push it in/out for an easy on/off. It's okay but I wish I'd selected something more compact. I used another one as a nightlight in the house when there are guests. One unit illuminates the whole living area for them. The light is a pleasant tone. The simple globe is more attractive than ugly nightlights. It is pleasant to the touch and hasn't broken with much handling. It is best in a location for indirect lighting as it is too bright and unpleasant as a bare bulb.

Shines in all directions, but I can dim or shade it with tape. Good they send six, cause i've already lost two. I'm using one inside my car's center console storage bin. Normally that's a black hole for disappearing stuff..I use one as a light for camp, in a Li battery pack (that stays on continuously with lowdraw accessories)

Not super bright, but for their size that is to be expected. Good for emergency with a power bank

Night lights

I was really looking forward to this to provide "ambient" lights in certain places (e.g. car, nightstands etc.). However, a few issues with this product that makes it a deal-breaker for me:- The light is too bright and omni-directional - would be good to have it focused downward. However, I don't hold this against the manufacturer - it is clear from the product picture that this thing will be like a small bulb.- The light is not reliable - several pieces started to flicker when I put them in my car's USB - the ports otherwise work just fine - I presume some small variations in voltage cause these lights to not work well.- The light is so thick, that if you have two USB ports right next to each other, the second port is rendered useless if this light is inserted in the first one.
