Sportmix Bite Size Dry Dog Food, 40 Lb.

Let me begin by saying I have very large dogs. I typically feed them Blue Diamond, but decided to spice things up and try a different brand. After reading a few 5 star reviews I thought it was certainly worth a try. The bag is very large- 40 pounds. For the price it's literally unbeatable on Amazon. Free shipping? Yes! It's perfect for the people with a small pocketbook. With that being said, I was expecting food for a large dog. These pellets were more 'puppy sized' and definitely for younger dogs and smaller breeds. I didn't realize that 'bite size' meant tiny. They are about the size of peas, and my dogs weren't too thrilled about that.Because I have a larger breed, I feel like I can't fairly rate this product. But my dogs weren't too keen on eating any of this food. They didn't readily eat any of the food, even when it was mixed with fresh meat. Typically they will eat the food if it has been mixed with a meat product, but unfortunately they didn't really care for this stuff. I honestly think it was because of the size and not the taste. My honey's daughter has a chihuahua who ate this stuff willingly. He's not a picky eater and these were the PERFECT size for him. We were really excited to finally have food in his size! For small dogs this is an A+ option, but for larger breeds I'd opt for a different food.The ingredients in this food are decent. They are not the best selection, but much healthier than many other major commercial brands. Blue Diamond does have a bit better of a recipe, but Sportmix worked to avoid a lot of unecessary additives and preservatives (which I appreciated). For the price- well worth it. If you're shopping on a budget, looking for quality pellets for your small dog, this is definitely a product I'd recommend.UPDATE: After working with my dogs for a while and getting them used to this food, they now really seem to like it. They still prefer Blue Diamond, but for the price, this stuff is unbeatable. They are beginning to eat it dry and mixed with meat. Each of the dogs prefer it a different way, but will generally eat it any way as long as they are hungry. I ordered two more bags- which will last about a month. And I'm sure I'll be back for more.

I ordered this SPORTMiX because it had good reviews send for some reason it was only $15.60/40#bag! FedEx delivered today but I didn't notice. Later I saw Dexy, my 1.5yr old Aussie pup snuffling at the bottom of the side door. I just had to look and see what might be out there and I found two large Amazon boxes with SPORTMiX inside! I've not fed it to anyone, but when I brought the boxes inside, I had a hard time getting my Furz Pack to leave the kitchen where the boxes were. It must smell either real good or real bad, it's hard to tell with my pack, as they seem to enjoy smells from each end of the spectrum. I think they're going to enjoy this food! I thought I would order a couple more bags since it was only $15.60/40#bag, but I was disappointed. It's now $66.00/40# or something like that. When I didn't see the, $15.60 I moved on. I run into that often sometimes. Buy something cheap today, it goes up tomorrow. Pays to stock up when the deals crop up I guess!

I have 2 large dogs and one small one so sometimes the large dog food is a trial for the small dog (and then I buy him small dog food that the large dogs want to eat!!). This is a small kibble so there is no problem with that. Also, I have never had food that all the dogs loved so much that they ate it at one time and didn't seem hungry afterward. They don't get a lot but what they do get satisfies them and nobody seems to be having stomach issues.

This used to be cheaper, like $24, but they just raised the price, so I will not repurchase. I'm very disappointed because I would have gotten it every month. I have six rescue dogs so I was super excited about the price, and they literally raised in the next week. Quality is fine, basic, pretty dry but great with topper or mix-ins. Doesn't stink, dogs liked it, I like the small bites because they tend to hoover their food and these will break down easier. If they lower the price back down, I will definitely re-buy, especially if it's Amazon Prime. I'm not paying $35+$4 shipping.

I have 7 dogs and so I really appreciate it when I find a deal on dog food that everyone likes. My oldest is 16 and youngest is 6 mos old. The small bites are a perfect base for my doggie crock pot stew I make them to top it. I will buy more for sure.

I have 3 boxers. They like mini chunks. They were eating Iams but it is somewhat pricey. I ordered this to try it out. (Iams has been great with our older one. When she eats the bargain stuff her eyes get goopy and she seems to be tired/lazy.) I was extremely happy with this food. The dogs love it. The older one has done fantastic. Her eyes are actually brighter and she has more energy than in Iams even. This brand is half what I was paying for Iams and seems to be even better. I just ordered our 3rd bag. Very glad I took the chance on this food.

I purchased this dog food for my pitties. I was unsure whether they would like it compared to their Gravy Train that they have been on for almost a year. They have enjoyed it and the great part is that I dont have to lug a huge bag of food around a shopping center getting it in and out of a shopping cart to be scanned for purchase. The food has awesome nutrients inside for our fur babies and they seem to love it.

Our dogs love this food. The small kibble are great for senior dogs with worn teeth. It's similar in size to the Costco brand that we buy but love that it's delivered to our door when we're 25 miles from Costco. I know that there are better quality foods out there but we foster dogs for a local rescue, so price is a main factor with so many doggie mouths to feed! Will continue to buy!
