Very good
The razor and the razor blades are good quality. The blades are very sharp and last me about 3 or 4 shaves. The razor feels a bit flimsy but that is just the plastic, in reality it's quite sturdy. Because of the plastic it's more difficult to clean though (you can't simply boil it) so you might want to keep that in mind. For an entry model it's certainly not a problem but if you're looking for a long-term investment you might want to look for an all-metal model.I have not yet used the shaving soap and brush, though the soap does smell nice and the brush looks and feels fine. What I can say is that the brush doesn't lose hairs upon arrival. The styptic matches are a nice touch, but they won't last very long. Expect to cut yourself a fair number of times if you're not used to straight-edge shaving. Shaving with a shavette is certainly the most difficult way of shaving I have tried so far. The matches do help with those beginner's mistakes :)In all, a great set to enter the world of shavettes and straight-edge shaving. For a long-term user you might want to invest in a better (all-metal) razor.

Derby blades are great, razor itself iffy but would buy again!
I actually wanted the blades only for another cut-throat I have from Amazon but ended up buying this as it was not much more than the Derby box on its own. The blades - excellent. I've used Derby for cut-throat for a year or so now and never had any issues. I never re-use the same blade even within the day so I go through a lot of blades. Every one was just as sharp. The razor itself was not so good. The eject mechanism is a bit flimsy and is actually broken now after only 2 uses. It's too much hassle just getting that swapped out so I don't really care about it but just be warned. Looks like my barbers one as it slides out rather than the top lifting up. The brush is ok - a little harsher than I wanted but is getting softer. Not tried the other two bits. I would still buy again just as a backup/spare but more so for the blades.

Fun little kit
I purchased this to give using a straight razor a try as using the 5 blade vibrating razors was just too quick and easy leaving me very bored with shaving. For a first razor its ok, not having to mess about with keeping it sharp is a real bonus at this point, I use each blade twice and then just toss it away, so the blades will last me plenty long enough for my trial run.It is a very lightweight razor which lead to a few cuts the first few times, which I don't think I would have done if it did have a little more weight to it. But after 5 or 6 uses I got the hang of it, and by shave 10 I managed to shave with no cuts, still a long way to go to get the smooth finish I got from my normal razor, but I think this little kit has got me hooked on using straight razors so its doing it job for me.

The best shave you'll ever have if you take pride your shaving.
I've been shaving every week since my 13th birthday and over the past 9 years I've really learned to master the craft with a Gillette but I now realise I have barely scratched the surface. This little tool takes it to a entirely new level, I will state this is not a device for someone without the chustpa and the desire to take their grooming to the next step. The shavette is fantastic, easy to load and the blades are very sharp. For those in the know a badger brush is considered the best , however I found the boar brush to be soft, comfortable and highly recommend it. The only slight criticism I have to make is the soap is not the highest quality I tried it just because, I personally use prorasso shaving soap or Taylor's of London shaving soap. Pro tip do your research before purchasing I saw many complaints of people cutting themselves. You'll only cut yourself if you apply pressure to the blade, pressure is the enemy in the straight razor game.

Great!
Never shaved with straight razor before but thought I would try to learn a new man skill. Takes some patience and practice but I actually look forward to shaving now. Blade can open a little if your not careful due to design. But if you put your thumb in right place (the dip) it’s good. Good value and delivered fast. For price it’s Worth giving a go if you’re curious. Just takes practice and a little blood.

A good introduction to the retro Razors
Not a straight razor, but a really good introduction/daily driver. It's definitely a steep learning curve, so be prepared to give yourself some nasty cuts the first time around. After around the fifth shave you're back on track and by the tenth -there's no coming back. The mechanism is a bit finicky and to tight, but the included razors gradually loosen it, to acceptable levels. The brush is superb, the included soap is a blessing. The razors are plentiful, and usually last for more than one shave, this this package will last you for more than a year. The fact that the razor is not hidden behind a protective rail, gives you much better control. This is great if you use not just for a clean shave but also beard grooming.

I had the smart idea of using this on my private parts for a first time user of cut throat razors and then took to my face after I didn't cut myself. It was the most intense and longest shave i've ever taken in my life but it was amazing. The razor setup, was fairly simple. You're dealing with a blade, a very sharp blade thats pretty flimsy until you fit it into it's holder. I didn't need instructions to know to avoid the sharp point of the blade, the only hardest part was getting it to stay in its placeholder but you clip it in.The shaving soap or foam thing was interesting, it leaves a soap feeling on the skin, that not entirely soft feel but a surface texture that all soaps have. Hot water and lots of rubbing with the brush and it foams up.The brush is of nice quality, my first brush, so i didn't have many expectations but all the hairs held their place in my first use.The blades supplied, are individually wrapped, really flexible and are extremely sharp.I had a quality shave from this kit and would recommend.
