Bought this oil on strength of the reviews and it is far better than I expected. I have used it on a variety of things that were in need of attention and it has improved the appearance no end while protecting it at the same time. Easy and quick to use. Clean off surface and rub down rust patches. It would not save something with major rust but is brilliant for a quick and easy improvement. To soon to know how long it lasts yet, but not daunted by recoats as necessary. It does take a while to dry but that’s not a bad thing.

Paint conditioner is what I used it for resulting in no paint brush marks streaks or runs. Would highly recommend it

Ive been using this to preserve rusty metal to keep patinas and it seems to do a good job so far but time will tell how long it lasts exposed to the uk weather .My only gripe as with all paints and liquids in this century is the greedy prices :-(

I bought this after reading the advice on the website for the fire bowl company. We had been using vegetable oil intermittently on the lid, which worked for about a month at a time. The rest of the bowl, however, was getting a bit rusty. I cleaned out the bowl (the clay beads probably needed a rinse anyway) and then used the Owatroil. It took slightly longer than 24 hours to dry properly (and direct sunshine helped) but it was worth the wait (48-72hrs). The bowl, lid and base all came up surprisingly well and I can see that the oil has bound some of the rust together. It has lasted over a month - with lots of heavy rain - and still looks good.

After reading all the reviews of this product, I decided to buy it. I have a heavy metal garden bench which is very ornate and was painted black/gold. I thought as it was very old, the paint job would last for ever. However, after two years the rust started appearing. I painted the Owatrol oil on (was very easy) and it's now 100% protected. The water doesn't sink into the already rusted spots as it has a gloss film over it. I also painted my rustic/rusted french urns. I wanted to keep the rusted look and I am so pleased with the outcome. The only thing I didn't realize was that once it dries it has a glossy finish like it has had a coat of gloss paint. As I said I didn't realize this, I thought it would leave a matt finish but both things I painted look great and are now protected. If you are umming and ahhing about whether to buy this product, do it. Fantastic.

Worked well on my fire pitt after sanding down the surface rust and then giving it a coat in the oil. The metal work came up as new.

I bought this after advice to use it to reduce rust on my outdoor cast iron BBQ.It has been awesome - does exactly that!firms up flaky rust, removes surface rust, acts as a preservative and enhances the cast iron all in one easy paint on application.

Pour une cale de péniche et quelques éléments extérieurs qui subissent la corrosion. Facile à appliquer, il sèche assez vite. Effet brillant qui s'estompe mais on sent qu'il y a une protection et ça a bien résisté à l'hiver pluvieux. J' en remettrai au printemps.. Sur le fond de cale, il a transformé de grosses parties de rouille feuilleté en bloc solide comme si'l transformait la matière. Produit très pratique, facile à appliquer, pas trop odorant mais un masque covid suffit à se protéger des odeurs (pour ma part, appliqué en septembre au soleil). il sèche en 24h environ, donc à ne pas appliquer en extérieur si'l risque de pleuvoir ou prévoir de protéger l'objet fraichement badigeonné. un peu cher tout de même mais ces produits le sont souvent.
