This Mueller SuperGrind Burr Coffee Grinder improved my coffee drinking by miles and miles.
I always wondered why my coffee never tasted as good at home as it did at many coffee shops. The short answer for me is that my coffee was not ground finely enough. When I first asked why coffee at home was not as good as the coffee shops there were a few possible reasons.Am I using quality coffee? Is my coffee maker of sufficient quality? Is the coffee fresh enough? Am I choosing the best type of coffee for my taste? Am I using enough coffee grounds? Is my water hot enough? Is my water pure enough?I experimented with all of these things with varying measures of success. Of course water and coffee quality makes a difference. Coffee has to be relatively fresh and the water needs to taste good. But the taste of home brew was never close to a good coffee shop.I use a Keurig coffee maker. Different flavors of k-cups tasted differently but were never great. I started using reusable filter cups because I hated to throw away all those plastic coffee containers and it was cheaper to buy bulk coffee. It didn't seem to make a big difference whether I used store bought ground or whether I used a blade grinder. I had never heard of a burr grinder until friend of mine bought an expensive coffee make and discovered that other coffee fanatics recommended a burr grinder as well. I was always a little intimidated and the prices these people were paying for a grinder.I realized that the coffee grinder at the grocery store grinds the beans finely and that it was probably a burr grinder. I gave it a try. This was an epiphany for me. The biggest improvement in coffee taste came from using a burr grinder and choosing a fine grind. I used the store grinder for a while, but being a publicly available grinder it was subject to heavy use and spotty maintenance. The grounds did not always turn out the way I liked.I was pretty amazed that I found the Mueller SuperGrind at this price point and form factor. The Mueller SuperGrind is the perfect tool for my home use.The Mueller grinder is easy to use, easy to clean and easy to store. I grind about a pound a month maybe? I keep the grinder on a pantry shelf most of the time, so the smaller form factor is convenient. I spend about 20 minutes a month grinding coffee. I keep the grounds in a canister. It doesn't make a difference to me whether it is fresh ground daily or I store the grounds less than a month. It hasn't made a difference if I store the grounds in the refrigerator or the shelf Again the biggest factor is taste for me is the fineness of the grounds. The build quality of the Mueller SuperGrind is solid. the parts slide into place easily and it is easy to keep clean with a brush. The fit an finish is nice. The appearance is nice enough to keep on the counter top if you have the space.Because I like a finer ground, it does mean I have to keep the Keurig coffee maker clean. Some of the finer grounds come through the filter and settle in the coffee maker. This little bit of added maintenance is worth the improvement in taste. My only complaint is that there are two dials and it is not intuitive to know which dial controls what and in what direction. Keep the manual for reference. The directions on the Amazon description here are good enough in a pinch.I highly recommend this grinder. It solved the taste test for me.I can express enough how big an improvement it is in my daily coffee drinking. This improves every coffee bean type I have ever bought. I even reground store bought ground coffee at a finer setting and it improved the taste.

Grinds aren't uniform
Price:Excellent. Its the cheapest I found on Amazon, its worth more than the cost. Shipping was very fast. Just this makes it a 5 star product.Grinding size:I have been using number 5 for the last two weeks. I only use it for a dripping coffe maker, does it work? yes. The grinds are not uniform at all, and I am using number 5, I think it goes from 1 to 17. If I had used 15 or bigger it would've been less uniform. See the pictures, there are sizes that are very thin as dust, while others are 10x bigger than the smaller ones.I don't think this will work for an french press, the smallest grinds will go through the metallic net/filter no matter which setting you use. I used a filter for my dripping coffe so I didn't have this problem. I didn't try it with an espresso but I think it should work fine. The static was a problem, but was easily resolved by adding droplets of water with the coffee beans on top.In the picture you can see that when you remove the bin from the bottom it will throw a little bit of grinds, these will continue to accumulate every time you use it so this has to be cleaned with a paper towel or similar every 3 - 5 uses.Lenght of the electric cable is 32in + the plug.I haven't tried other coffee grinders so I can't tell if it was too noisy or not. The noise level was acceptable for me, a bit louder than my microwave but way less than the blender. I also can't tell if the problem with the grinds not being uniform happens with all grinders or not, I hope not.

Decent for the Price But Don't Expect Greatness
I brew coffee about 3-4 times a week. I only put in the grains I need for the serving (which is not what this is designed for). This grinder is designed to have the grains basket filled for grinding consistency to work. Meaning, as the container is emptied, the grinds come out of all sizes. The consistency of the grind depends on constant weight applied by gravity on the grains to be fed into the grinders at a consistent rate. You also have to be mindful of the static build up that makes the ground coffee stick to the exit spout. This is alleviated by spraying a little water on the grains before starting the grind. But, I still use a pick or something similar to scrape to coffee off and into the plastic receiver. It's a cheap grinder so I don't have high expectations for convenience. I was using a manual grinder before so I'm okay with the extra steps compared to churning a grinder manually.Another thing I noticed is the volume of coffee grounds changes based on how many beans you have in the compartment. So, you won't get the same amount of coffee every time you run it on a given number. Not a big deal if you don't care but I'd recommend weighing your output before brewing so you have the same water to coffee ratio.Overall, the metal burrs make this a long lasting grinder until the motor gives out or something else breaks. I doubt the burrs will go bad any time soon.As any other grinder, you'll have to regularly clean the burrs and beans container. It's pretty straight forward to remove the top burr for cleaning. Whatever you do, don't go pouring a full stream of water into the burr section because you'll likely mess up the motor.Buy with confidence but don't expect Starbucks quality grinding.
