A Over Looked 80's Gem
I was happy to get my hands on The Night Before on dvd (My VHS Version is beat-up)I have mixed thoughts on the DVDLionsgate has done such a Great job in the past on both DVD's & BR'sThis dvd on the other hand is a Poor dvd Digital Transfer (The print looks worn I'd guess they took the VHS Version and transferred it to dvd) The 5.1 Audio is also a bit hinkyThe trivia track is more of a lame gimmick (Why no Audio Commentary???)This DVD would be fine if It was made 10-12yrs ago when The dvd Format first came out (But, Now to have such a Poor Official Copy is unacceptableThere are a number of Other Titles in there "Lost Collection" I'd like 2 add to my Collection but, after watching this dvd I'm not sureShame on Lionsgate for putting out Such a Bootleg/Poor DVD of a Great Rarely Seen FilmThey dropped the ball on putting this out on dvdThe Film itself is so Good and over looked . I'd say it's one of the Best PG-13 of the 1980's!I'm sure it gained a Cult type Following thanks to the VHS EraStarring Two Young up and coming stars Keanu Reeves & Lori LoughlinThe two are both extremely good in it. They both play it straight in a Crazy Over-the top world! The Music/Score also is top notch (Doesn't sound like a typical 1980's Movie) The Great King of Funk George Clinton wrote the Scorethe score/music was and still to this day Fresh and ahead of it's time for a teen flick! For those who have never seen it (which I'm sure is allot of people) It's a Must see TreasureThe Film itself 9.5/10The DVD along with the Laserdisc are the only two Digital CopiesHopefully this dvd gets word of mouth maybe One day A Studio will put out a Cleaned-up Special EditionCause this Film Deserves a Special EditionIt's a Odd Classic to say the least

A young innocent Keanu in a funky fish out of water film
A VERY young and extremely adorable Keanu Reeves plays Winston Connelly, a sheltered and innocent suburban teenager who gets lost on the way to prom, takes his date to The Wrong Side Of The Tracks, is roofied, and manages to accidentally sells her into prostitution because he has so little idea of what is going on. The story initially unfolds slowly and out of order in flashbacks ("where am I?"), then becomes linear as he figures out how to find and rescue her. Best sequence: Keanu and the lovely Lori Laughlin dancing to the funky music of "The Rats Nest Band", which happen to be none other than George Clinton and Bootsy Collins, and then at the end a quite satisfying car chase (there was a little John Wick in him even then). Lots of jokes and stereotypes about various low life inner city denizens, and about the hilarious (sarcasm) topic of human trafficking. Even though much of it is funny, and arguably avoids overt racism, it's just not always on the right side of the taste line. Not sure this film was ever theatrically released, and I'm guessing this is why. As an aside, after I watched this I went to Man Of Tai Chi, where 25-years-later Keanu plays the knowing and evil Donneka Mark--got whiplash going from one character extreme to another.

The Hangover episode 0
For those who have never seen this, it's the original "The Hangover," where Keanu Reeves plays the part of the guy who gets roofied, sells his prom date into prostitution, and then has to figure out what happened and how to fix it before the clock runs out and her daddy, the chief of police, comes looking for him. Millennials will be confused by the use of payphones and credit cards as plot devices. All kinds of offensive on all social issues as well, but worth the watch to at least see how much things have changed, even though they're still pretty much the same (re: The Hangover series), and an amazing performance by George Clinton and the P-Funk All-stars.

Great Comedy Lacking Widescreen
Originally I got this great 80's comedy from an HD rip online, but this is just as good and with a decent cover. Sadly, like all of the "Lost Collection" series, it is in full screen and has a fake 5.1 soundtrack. For those who want to know, all of the "Lost Collection" films are supposed to be in 5.1 Dolby Digital audio. This is not true. Every channel sounds the same as track 3, which is all of the music, dialog and special effects mixed together. A perfect 5.1 DVD has music in the first channel, sound effects with some dialog in the second, everything mixed together in the third, track 4 is base, and the last two channels are for rear sounds, sometimes containing a clearer isolated music track. None of the "Lost Collection" discs are like this, making them fake 5.1 audio and that really hurts my view of Lionsgate. "The Night Before" is still a must-have comedy, but don't look for awesome sound or anamorphic widescreen.

Couldn't stop laughing
I bought this the moment I saw Keanu Reeves was in this with Lori Loughlin. Lori played a role that I've never seen her do before "spoiled annoying brat" and I may have enjoyed her character being sold when her date was drugged. It's a fun story showing everything going wrong and the guy coming out awesome in the end. It's a fun film to watch.

Total surprise
This movie purports to be humorous and, guess what, it is! Poor Keanu goes to the prom with the woman of his dreams only to discover she lost a bet with her friends and had to ask the least popular guy in school to the prom. Well, at least he's good looking so you can forgive him for taking a wrong turn off the freeway and ending up in a seedy adult entertainment district, and you can forgive him for getting his wallet stolen, and you can forgive him for getting plastered, and you can even almost forgive him for selling his date to a pimp for a couple of hundred dollars. His date's father is a cop, and he is not so forgiving!

Seeing a young Keanu Reeves in his early acting days is such a treat
I saw this movie on TV about Twenty-five years ago and got a kick out of it back then. I was searching for some movies to put on my kindle for a trip and was delighted to find that The Night Before was available. I enjoyed it just as much now as then. In the meantime, I've raised to daughters who are now adults. Luckily, I didn't think about this movie for a couple decades, so I wasn't nervous when they went to the prom. Many unexpected laughs and seeing a young Keanu Reeves in his early acting days is such a treat.

Charming movie.
What an underrated gem of a movie, this wasn’t easy to get hold of as I couldn’t find any streams of it online, and it didn’t seem easily accessible but glad I finally did. Keanu plays a lovable goofball in this flick, charming and young, coming of age type movie, just a lighthearted bit of fun, well worth a watch.

Awesome 80s version of The Hangover
Keanu Reeves in his first lead role, stars has a high school senior who gets to take to the prom the most popular girl in school only because she's lost a bet played by Lori Loughlin (TV's Full House), but because of a mishap the two never make it to the prom but instead end up on the worst part of L.A.The film starts off with Reeves in an alleyway, in the middle of the night confused and devoid of any recent memory. He takes us along with him as he scours the empty streets in search of answers. He has $1500 he didn't have before & has no idea has to the whereabouts of either his car or his date. Has he tries to piece his memory together. We find out that he had mistakenly drove to the wrong side of the city & stumble into a night club to get help & after someone slips something into his drink. Things get interesting. Not wanting to give to many spoilers. I'll just say that the film is filled with an assortment of shady and comical characters. This lost 80's gem is still entertaining from director Thom Eberhardt, director of the cult classic, "Night of the Comet". Released the same year has Reeves first Bill & Ted adventure. This cast is not bad in this entertaining 80's gem that's fun to watch. The only special feature is a trivia track. The film is in fullscreen.

FUORI ORARIO in versione teen!
GRANDE KEANU !!
