Works great and NO plastic!
This little cooker is really fantastic! I have wanted one of these for quite a while, but did not like all of the plastic components of other brands. I selected this one because of the stainless steel cooking surfaces. It takes up very little counter space, but fits 7 large eggs and cooks all to perfection. Medium boil (basically a tender hard boiled egg with the yolk still slightly soft) is my favorite, and that takes about 9 min for 7 eggs. This uses a tiny bit of water, is much faster than boiling or steaming eggs in a pot on the stove, and so far is a snap to clean (I have used this about 5 or 6 times, the hot pad will get water marks, but so far they remove easily when wiped with a paper towel dampened with vinegar). To my surprise, the clear knob at the top really does stay cool enough to lift the lid with bare fingers (be careful of the metal part of the lid and the cooking surfaces, obviously those get quite hot). The automatic shutoff works fine. I am really impressed! Highly recommend this.

Good looking but unsafe and did not cook right.
The rim of the steam plate has sharp edges on the bottom which almost cut my finger while washing it.I used 50ml as stated by the user manual for 6 eggs but only put 2 eggs in it from the refrigerator, however; both eggs still came out uncooked in the center. The unit is small and good looking but unfortunately, it did not work for me and I will return it. Very disappointed. I really wanted a stainless steel unit and will keep on looking for one.

An absolutely essential appliance for anyone wanting to make hard-boiled eggs
The Medelon Egg Boiler allows anyone to make perfect hard-boiled eggs in a fraction of the time and energy required to make them on the stove. Although boiling hard-boiled eggs on the stove SOUNDS like a simple process, I have found it to be quite challenging to make perfect hard boiled eggs that are easy to peel. The Medelon Egg Boiler only requires 30ml (two tablespoons) of water to create six perfect hard boiled eggs. The 360W heating unit begins boiling the water mere seconds after the power button is pressed. The instruction manual was not the best, but contained a useful chart showing times for various foods. The hard-boiled eggs I wanted took nine minutes per the chart. I started a kitchen timer and when it alarmed after nine minutes, I went to turn off the egg cooker. It had already automatically turned off. I opened the cover and found five of the six eggs in perfect, intact condition. The sixth egg had cracked and had a bit of the white seeping through the crack. All eggs were perfectly cooked and after running cold tap water over them to cool them off they all peeled easily without sticking to the egg white.

May need to align start button
I read several reviews and after some research decided to purchase this egg cooker although some reviews said it quit working after a few months. I liked that it was stainless steel and is easy to clean and doesn't have an annoying buzzer. It worked perfect for 2 months then I noticed I had to repeatedly put the start button to get it to come on. My husband took it apart by taking out a couple of screws on the bottom and examined the wiring which looked in perfect condition. We couldn't find anything that looked to be wrong with the start button. I did notice however that when you snapped it back together, you had to align the start button with the contact behind it. When we aligned it and put it back together, it worked perfectly which makes me think it was maybe only slightly making contact when I first started using it and eventually moved slightly enough to not make contact and not come on. Hope this bit of information helps someone else with this problem. Love it again!

Very Confuses - Chinese to English translation product guide difficult to follow and incomplete.
Is the machine supposed to turn on as soon as you plug it in? I don't think the power switch button does anything? I plug it in and it starts but switch does nothing. The product guide I received with the cooker is lacking information, incomplete and difficult to follow Chinese to English translation. Very confuses. It does not even mention the egg piercer pin or how and why you need to use it. I found info about the egg piercer pin on the amazon product page when I clicked onto the pictures at the left. According to the product photos on Amazon if you do don't pierce the eggs with the pin they will burst. This sounds very important and should be added to the product guide. (Be careful when using the egg pin. I broke two eggs in the process which is why I had a friend in the kitchen as you can see in the attached photos). Also the manual seems to suggest 6 egg capacity because it makes no mention of cooking time or water level for 7 eggs. That being said it did work. I went with the 7 eggs out of the fridge and used 70ml water However I will let the pictures tell the story. I will say it is an energy and water saver for egg boiling. I will try it again *I did try it again and have used it several times noew with better success - This is an update on my initial review... I have messaged the seller the following info. The first time I used the steamer the switch was already pushed in to "on" position ( I did not know that) so when I added the water it started steaming instantly before I had even placed the eggs in. It must have been pushed in during packaging or manufacture. I did try turning it off at that point with the switch and as you said it doesn't work for turning off once started. So I was not very pleased with that ( also it could have caused a burn). Since then (after the first use ) I have not tried to use the switch to turn it off after it has started. On the second use I was able to use the power switch to turn it on after placing water and eggs in steamer. So the manufacturer needs to be aware of the switch being in the 'on" position (pushed in) when sold to consumers. I thought it was defective and almost returned it. - Yes the manufacturer or supplier needs to greatly improve the manual including the translation from Chinese to English. Many people may return this item if the information is incorrect or not detailed enough and inacurate language translation. It's a simple gadget. It just needs proper instructions. *Also I found that if you prick/pierce the large end of the egg and place them large/wide side up (which seems upside down) the whites of the egg do not come out of the egg when steaming.

Returning it * not satisfied
Very disappointed. Eggs would not sit comfortably in tray. When I was ready to plug it in, the base lifted and everything spilled - base is not heavy enough. If you have a vegetable steamer - use that instead. It is a cute gadget, very small & compact but not robust enough. My old one was by Kenmore - it lasted for over 10 years - before throwing it out, I had kept the basket to put eggs in - now I am putting that basket in vegie steamer - same results! This being said, it does work but instructions are badly translated. I cannot recommend this unit, especially not full price.

Great Cookers, very minor drawbacks
Pros - Looks nice, stainless steel, great size, easy to use, omelette tray can hold 4 Large eggs, cooks quickly.Cons - Omelette tray is tricky to remove once done, and egg will stick unless you use PAM spray or butter, no handle to pick it up and its hot, no buzzer when finished. As far as the No-buzzer issue, I just set an alarm on my cell phone for 10-12min and it works welland for the omelette tray, i use a paper towel to grab the side of the tray, its very thin so using an oven glove will get in the food.very happy with the purchase.

If I had known it was made in China I probably wouldn't have bought it whether it works or not
Works great but I thought it would be a little bit bigger for making Poached Eggs cetera
