A superbly effective bow saw at a modest price
I own bow saws of several lengths, and this one has become my go-to for cutting substantial logs and boughs where access is not an issue. After managing for years with a 21" version, this economical 36" saw is a revelation. The much longer back and forth throw makes sawing almost effortless. The fairly basic plastic grip is fine, particularly if you wear work gloves. For green wood I have fitted a Bahco 23-36 Raker Tooth Hp Bowsaw Blade, which avoids any clogging, and slices through branches like the proverbial hot knife through butter. Changing blades is easy, and once the blade is in place the frame holds it under very good tension.Keys to easy cutting are using the longest throw bow saw that is convenient for the job, and a newish blade of the right type for the wood, seasoned or green. When the saw is not in use, the plastic blade cover is valuable (it requires careful fitting).Highly recommended.

Great bow saw but blade guard tricky to refit unless you know this tip
Great bow saw but blade guard tricky to refit unless you know this tip.You can fold one side of the blade guard down to make refitting the guard to the blade a lot easier.

Great saw
Nice big saw that cuts well. Used it on some big logs and it had no problems at all.

Does what it is supposed to
This is a quality bow saw. It is sharp. It cuts in a straight line. The length allows a really long stroke, so cutting goes surprisingly quickly. I cut down several trees up to about 18 inches in diameter - the kind of size where lazier people would definitely have reached for the chainsaw (obviously the back of the bow isn't far enough away to just cut straight through something this deep, you need to vary your angle a bit and/or cut a wedge out to get right through).Minus points: The blade guard is pretty much impossible to put back on after you have taken it off for the first time so you'll be storing it with the blade exposed.

good value tool
I own a chain saw, but rarely use it now I have this bow saw, much less hassle, less dangerous, just as quick if the blade is kept sharp. Brilliant bit of kit. My only reservation is that the narrow depth of the blade makes control of the direction of cut difficult - not a problem for rough lopping etc.

Not bad but has no facility for tensioning the blade and knuckle guard is flimsy. I would have happily paid a few quid more for a saw with those features. However that said does the job, used to cut thick tree trunks up and cuts quickly

Finally, old school quality
This is the best bow saw I've ever used. 36 inches is prefect for the work I'm doing which is cutting up big beams. The saw works effortlessly cutting beautiful straight cuts under its own weight through large, heavy, old Scotch Pine beams. Get the technique right (just relax!) and you can keep going all day long. Considering its price and being termed an 'Economy' model, I don't think you can buy better.

Good Value
What a difference a few pounds make. Great saw, cuts logs and old telegraph poles with little effort. Wished I had bought this one in the first place rather than the useless forester model.

Excelente sierra
