Better than I thought it would be...
I was expecting to be disappointed in this product, as I am with so many products I receive from Amazon. You can't really tell anymore from the reviews what is good or not, because so many reviews are fake. But after trying this product, I would say that the reviews for this product were honest. If you don't like coconut (or even a hint of the flavor of coconut) do not buy this product. Yes, you can taste a hint of coconut. Just a hint. But, most of all there is this savory, smoky, crunchiness, with the chewiness, and a bit of oiliness (from the coconut itself) that tricks your flavor buds into thinking you're eating some seriously delicious bacon. I couldn't stop snacking on it out of the bag, but when I used it as the bacon in my BLT today...WOW!!! I can't wait to buy another tomato to make another sandwich. And, although I do eat meat, I prefer to eat vegetarian meals as often as possible. This Coconut Bacon will contribute towards saving many piggy lives, and that makes me happy. I'm going to try it in any and every recipe that calls for bacon. I'm also going to give my 32 year old chef/daughter one of the two packages as one of her silly/fun birthday presents. I know she will be amazed.***UPDATE*** My daughter did not get one of the packages for her birthday. I ate it all. :) Also, I reordered from Phoney Baloney's website: 3 packages for $15, plus $5 shipping. Comes out to less than Amazon.

Neat concept for bacon replacement
This was out of stock when I discovered it but I waited many months and when it came back in stock I jumped on it. At first taste it does taste bacon-y but the pieces are a big too big in my opinion so it meant I had to chew a lot before I could swallow it and I noticed that after a few chews the coconut flavor came out noticeably. That was a huge turn off for my spouse however I don't mind coconut and so I will use this from time to time in my soups, salads or maybe even as a topping on eggs.

Straight from bag: probably won't fool a Bacon connoisseur, but decent when paired w/other flavors - looking at you Baked Potato
I'm not a vegan, but I have been working some vegan products into my life lately. I bought these bags without any idea what it would taste like. Overall, not bad. I can tell it's not real bacon, but it's not offensive. If you just try it straight from the bag, the flavor is more noticeably coconut when you get the aftertaste. There is a smoke flavor upfront. I think these bits are great over a baked potato as the flavors meld better with other ingredients. It is unfortunately, more expensive than I'd like and I hope the price comes down significantly.

I thought the taste is really good and has kind of a "bacony" texture
I have never tried coconut bacon before, but it came up in a couple of recipes that I wanted to try. So I bought it, I thought the taste is really good and has kind of a "bacony" texture. In fact I liked it so much that I eat it right out of the bag. The only bad thing about this, and it is not really bad, is that it does have a coconut aftertaste, but, I didn't mind that.

Cool and incredibly creative idea
I fully realized when I ordered this product that this was "coconut" bacon bits. That said I was hopeful that I would enjoy the "seasonings" used to create the bacon flavor. The color, size of the bits and crunch are great but the seasonings used to create the "smokey bacon" flavor are really strong. The first few bites out of the bag are okay but when I tried to incorporate about a tablespoon of the bits into a pasta salad it turned out to be just a bit too overpowering for me. I really love the idea of this product because it's vegetarian and the idea incredibly clever and creative. If you are a fan of "smokey" flavorings with a backdrop of coconut essence then you may very well love this product. It would be nice if "samples" were available to order to try this product as opposed to only offering the full size 2 pack/bags because this product is on the pricey side of town especially if you turn out not to be a fan.

Great Bacon Substitute.
I really love these. They have the flavor and crispiness of bacon, but with a subtle coconut flavor at the end. I'm vegan, so I like having that subtle flavor to remind me that this isn't really bacon. They make great BLT's, and I have yet to try it on a baked potato. If you go to their website, "Phony Baloney", you will find some great recipes. I like that they are serious about what they do, but they also don't take themselves too seriously and have a great sense of humor.

Fantastic!
This stuff is great. When it first arrived I tried some right out of the bag and loved it. I've since made a "bacon" and cheddar quiche and while it doesn't stay crisp when baked, the flavor was perfect. I served it to a group of friends (all meat eaters and bacon lovers) and everyone loved it and had no idea it wasn't real bacon. I *highly* recommend this to anyone who, like me, is trying to reduce the amount of meat/bacon they eat. My vegetarian husband loves it as well. One thing you should know, there is a slight coconut flavor. I don't find it to be very obvious or pronounced but someone who REALLY doesn't like coconut may not enjoy this product. Otherwise I think it would have broad appeal.

Yummy!
FINALLY a decent approximation of bacon, though as a recent meat eater turned vegan, I will caution that this is NOT the same as bacon. And, it's very salty, perhaps more than bacon itself, due to heavy application of tamari. But, for those of us who cannot tolerate eating animals raised in conditions that rival slavery and concentration camp conditions, it's a yummy, happy on the tongue, umami-rich product that's sometimes hard to find without meat. I have tried other brands of coconut bacon that were just downright unpleasant and only because this was highly recommended did I even try it. I am glad I did!
