Will this light work at all without a Garmin computer?

Works very well with a Hammerhead KAROO 2. The Garmin radar/rear lights also work well with the Hammerhead KAROO 2.

What’s the difference between trail edition and the regular one??

Mounting, trail edition has the helmet strap mount, while the urban edition has the out front mount where you can mount your garmin computer on the top and the light at the bottom

Can this be connected to Di2 shifters to be turned on/off and to change intensity?

Di2 only connect via bluettooth to your to your bike computer via Shimano EW-WU111 ($100). This typically is bought aftermarket and does not come with your new bike that has Di2. Di2 will not connect to the light directly. The light can connect to the garmin computer. I am not sure if it will connect to Wahoo or other computers. But once connect can set up a ligth network to have the light come on when connected to computer or have the ligth shut off when bikes stops. It has other modes. I like this light because it is one of the brightest and it connects my garmin edge 1030 plus. Note, the battery does run hot, but it is meant to be cooled via motion on your bike

Is this light a tight spot with a long throw

It can be. Adjusts to speed and darkness. I love the day flash mode. Ca see in daylight 1 mile
