These connections offer waterproofing on wires. I like tinning the wires before crimping them using a heat torched butane gun. They filled the space and really make a tough to pull apart piece.

I like having sets like this around for when you have the need and don't want to run out to the store, or wait for Amazon to deliver... The different sizes cover just about everything I will need in my shop.Now, this is very important. You MUST use the right crimping tool to get a good crimp with these. If you don't use the right tool, the wires will not get a solid crimp on them, and they could pull out. With the right tool, these work extremely well.Also, pick the right size connector for the wire you are using (this is as important as using the right crimp tool).I'm very pleased with how these crimp, and how they heat shrink and seal.While there are 240 pieces (I did not count, I took their word for it), there are more 22-16 and 16-14 gauge connectors than the smaller 26-24 gauge connectors. They also have some larger 12-10 gauge connectors for larger wires. I will say this, if you use more of the 26-24 gauge connectors, then this may not be the set you want. (There are other sets with more smaller connectors for things like electronic work). This set is more focused on connecting things like house wiring. (See my photo for how many you get of each size...)The quality is good, there are a good number of connectors in the set (if you are doing house wiring or such), and these work well and seal well. 👍I hope this review helps you decide if this set will work for you.

brittle insulation otherwise worked ok

You get a large assortment of butt connectors that provide a good heat shrink seal on the wires you are connecting making them good for marine as well as automotive. I used them on the trolling motor connections on my boat and the resulting connections are perfect! A butane torch quickly shrank down the insulation sealing the wire insulation. This is a good assortment and will come in handy on my boat rebuilding project.

From working on boats and cars, I've crimped and shrunk with similar connectors for many years, and these are perfectly functional at a fraction of the price they're sold for at the marine store. I can't see any reason so spend more on ancor connectors when these are offered at such a reasonable price. A proper set of crimpers designed for heat shrink connectors is all but essential to crush the copper connector against the properly sized and twisted conductor. The right crimper or dies will avoid excessive damage to the polyolefin sleeve and maintain a watertight connection. I used a couple different crimpers with these connectors without issue. I normally only use a heat gun to shrink similar connectors, I like the slow, even heating better than trying to manage a torch or lighter to shrink the tubing and melt the glue inside without burning or scorching it. Today I had to repair the power cord on my heat gun, so I used a propane torch and these connectors shrank without any real scorching. After the repair, the connectors worked great when shrank with its hot air. I'm pleased with these heat shrink butt connectors, and chose this set for its inclusion of the somewhat rare white tiny connectors which I often use.

These are great quality! I've bought others on amazon and had issues with them not creating a tight crimp and had to throw them away. Every single one of these worked great, and made a nice sealed connection every time. Must have for any automotive project or any other electrical connection that needs to be water tight.
