Wait until they fix it.
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE 5/28/2025ISSUES ARE STILL NOT FIXED! OVER ONE MONTH LATER!DESPICABLE LG!THEY HAVE NOT CALLED ME BACK AFTER SERVICE COMPLAINT EITHER!STAY FAR AWAY IF YOU LIKE QUALITY AND REFERENCE SETTINGS!ORIGINAL REVIEW:Don't buy until issues are resolved.I'm super bummed. I was really excited to upgrade from a 77G1 to this panel but it still had so many issues I'll have to return if they don't fix. They pushed out a firmware update that improved Dolby Vision near black posterization and color banding but they have not fixed the same issue on HDR10.It looks like total slop near black on any HDR10 content. Streamed or physical.Especially compared to my previous 77G1 and 77C9 and 55E6. Generations older, and this is worse.Video attached showing the issue in gaming.Pictures attached with G5 on top vs competing Samsung OLED below in HDR10 content.Inexcusable for the price.

The LG G5 OLED: Blinding Brilliance, Dazzling Colors, and a Remote from the Stone Age
The LG G5 OLED is, without exaggeration, a retina-searing leap forward for TV technology. Thanks to its new Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel (that’s four layers of OLED magic for those counting), the G5 is so bright you might want to invest in sunglasses just to watch The Matrix in HDR. Colors? Vivid, lifelike, and so punchy you’ll wonder if you accidentally switched to “Technicolor Dreamcoat” mode. Black levels are, as ever with OLED, deep enough to make a black hole jealous.Whether you’re watching movies, sports, or just admiring your reflection in the glossy screen, the G5 handles it all with aplomb. Motion is smooth, glare is a non-issue, and the viewing angle is so wide you could host a Super Bowl party for your entire apartment complex. If you crave Dolby Vision, the G5 delivers-just make sure you’re not streaming, or you might encounter some “artistic” grayish blacks and image noise (but LG is reportedly working on a fix, so fingers crossed). But for all this technological wizardry, LG has decided to keep you humble with a remote that feels like it was designed as a practical joke. No backlight, awkward input changes, and a layout that could double as an escape room puzzle. For a TV that can cost as much as a used car, you’d expect a remote that doesn’t require night vision goggles or a PhD in patience.Audio enthusiasts, brace yourselves: there’s no DTS:X support this year, so if you’re hoping for that, look elsewhere. Dolby fans, however, are treated like royalty, with arguably the best Dolby support on the market. One other big downside is the posterization and gradation in HDR content. LG fixed this issue in Dolby but it’s still present in HDR. Hopefully they are working on this as well as some backlit remote options. In summary: the LG G5 is a five-star TV shackled to a one-star remote. If LG ever gives us a remote worthy of the TV, it’ll be a perfect score. Until then, four stars-because even in 2025, you can’t have it all, but you can at least have a laugh while you fumble for the volume in the dark.
