Delicious! No guts or spines.
Sometimes I want sardines, but I don’t want to crunch the spines or deal with the crumpled wormish black guts, etc. These are excellent, easy to eat and reasonable in sodium, calories, and cost. Plus I like the cellophane outer can covering and the blank tins, which are really cute for reuse purposes and projects.

Brunswick Boneless Sardines, Healthy, Nutritious and Surprisingly Tasty
Brunswick Boneless Butterfly Sardine Fillets in Olive Oil are a surprisingly great option for those looking for a healthy protein pack snack or meal. While I'm a vegetarian and not a fan of fish, I decided to give the sardines a try because of their impressive nutritional value. At just 200 calories per serving, they're a fantastic source of protein, offering 16 grams in each can. Even for someone like me, who doesn't typically gravitate towards seafood, the quality of these sardines stands out. The delicate texture of the boneless butterfly fillet and the richness of the olive oil make them more palatable than I initially expected. These sardines do not taste fishy or have a fishy smell and are easy to open, these sardines are a great option for those looking to add a healthy, nutrient-dense food to their diet. The protein content is great, and overall nutrients. While I may not be the biggest fan of fish, I can definitely appreciate the health benefits Brunswick offers with these sardines. For anyone looking to maintain a balanced, high protein diet, these fillets are a solid nutritious choice. Even if fish isn't your favorite, these could change your perspective! Give them a try you will be pleasantly surprised!

The GREEN one, serrano peppers, olive oil, wild caught, DELICIOUS!
We've been trying every wild-caught sardine can known to mankind that is in olive oil or water...and doesn't have a reproductive harm warning. These Brunswick Hot Pepper sardines are a new firm favorite. We had tried the red chili Brunswick sardines and liked them so much, decided to give these a try, once we realized that the "Soybean" oil (in title of listing), is no longer true. They are now in olive oil. (Our order was in May 2023.)The sardines: These are boneless, skinless herring filets. (Herring are sardines, just slightly larger, so often fileted rather than canned whole.) The texture is not as firm as whole sardines, but not mushy. If you've had Brunswic kippered herring, it's like that. These are much better than the King Oscar's, Bar Harbor or Chicken of the Sea, three brands that we tried recently and all were disqualified because of mushy texture...and some for just plain weird flavors, too. (We can not see how people like the well-rated King Oscar's Mediterannean at all. Off putting texture and strange taste.) We've pretty much figured out that for filets, we like Brunswick the best. The oil: The Amazon title says Soybean Oil, too bad they haven't changed it, because these are definitely Olive oil. Olive Oil is the 2nd ingredient, but interestingly, these are not nearly as oily as many fish. Probably because this can also has vinegar. That means you have a slightly acidic taste. It's almost as if this can is in a mild, serrano pepper vinaigrette. It's really awesome! The flavor: Marvelous, slightly acidic with a nice, warm heat coming from the green serrano peppers. The heat for a chili loving person would be classified as mild. But, the warmth does linger in the mouth, which I very much enjoy. If you've ever bought mild green chilis in a can, the peppers here LOOK like those mild greens, but they add more lingering warmth. The can and presentation: The can opens very easily, you don't want a can you have to jerk open, because the chance of fishy oil spilling on your clothes or co-worker is a real concern. (Ask me how I know.) Upon opening, there's a beautiful display of lovely filets. The price: On Subscribe & Save, we paid about 1.88 per can, as we bought the box of 12. We can't find these any cheaper at our local grocery stores. And most don't carry this flavor.Alternative Brunswick flavor option: The Mild Red Peppers. Everything about this review is true of the Brunswick Mild Red Peppers except for the flavor profile. Nicely, the red peppers can does come in a paper box instead of the plastic film wrap...AND you get 4.4 oz instead of the 3.75 oz in the green one reviewed here. The red flavor is clean, no vinegar and has a nice warmth from the red chilis. I think it's a bit less spicy than the green in that you don't have any lingering chili "warmth" in your mouth after eating. I'd love it if they'd add vinegar to a red chili flavor, that bit of vinegar in the green one is the bomb. Locally, the red seem a bit more expensive by about 50 cents.Finally....our new favorite "whole" sardine brand is FLOWER Brand from Morocco. It has a mild chili-clove flavor that is subtle but delicious. Firm, whole fish. Pricey though at around 3.55 per can with Subscribe and Save, Pack of 5.

Not memorable
As a sardines enthusiast I tried several, price versus quality-taste, found really nice ones, firm and clean with abundant presence. These, edible. Big entry, hot pepper and oil seasoning just okey. I will eat them, of course, but once. 3.6 Stars.

Lightly smoked. Delicious
Best sardines I’ve ever purchased. Not too fishy. The hot pepper is not really hot so add something if you want it hotter. But they are really good and very healthy. Great snack. Very healthy. Awesome !

Delicious!
Very light, buttery flavor. No added salt, which is unusual for canned fish in olive oil. The oil is not designated as "virgin" or "extra virgin," but it is fine. There's not a lot of oil in the tin. Each is mostly packed with fish. The fish is herring, which is in the same genus as "true" sardines. If you're looking for true sardines that are boneless and butterflied, this is not what you seek.I also bought these in water with no added salt. They are also excellent.I highly recommend these canned fish for a high protein, low salt, non-perishable (for several years anyway), and delicious food for your pantry.I'm buying more before the price goes up. They are imported from Canada.
