Does the filling bunch up into lumps?

Yes, it absolutely does. It bunches into lumps everywhere. My husband and I cannot stand them and would have returned them if we had realized how bad they were before the return window closed.

Please only answer if you have washed. i've never had washable pillows before, should i anticipate problems doing this?

One wash and the cording around the edges unraveled and left fluff all over my laundry room. Save your money and get something else.

How soft are these pillows? I do not like firm pillows.

Pillow was firmer than I like. However, my husband’s sleep apnea symptoms have totally disappeared. He’s very happy with it and I went back to my softer pillow.

Supportive, but not too firm, in my opinion.
