Fantastic Glove for Young Players - Truly 'Game Ready'
Getting the right gear for my kids' first foray into baseball can be a real challenge, especially when it comes to gloves. Most youth gloves are stiff and incredibly difficult for small hands to close. I decided to try the Mizuno Prospect for my son, and I'm so glad I did. The biggest selling point, the "PowerClose" feature, is not just marketing hype—it actually works.Right out of the packaging, the glove was surprisingly soft and flexible. We've all been through the old rituals of oiling, conditioning, and tying a ball in a new glove for weeks. We barely had to do any of that here. After just a few minutes of playing catch in the yard, he was able to open and close it himself with confidence. The palm pad seems to give him a bit of extra courage when catching, and he genuinely loves using it, which is half the battle.Pros:* Extremely soft and easy to close for little hands.* Requires minimal to no break-in period.* Comfortable interior lining and good palm protection.* Build quality feels solid and seems like it will last a couple of seasons.Cons:* It's a bit expensive. While you can find cheaper options, you'll likely spend the difference in time and frustration trying to break them in. This Mizuno glove eliminates that headache. It’s a fantastic choice for building a young player's skills and enjoyment of the game right from the start. I’d definitely recommend it to other parents.

Nice glove, ready to be used!
It's soft and flexible, pretty much ready to use by a kiddo when we first got it. I added a little conditioner before the first use. But he's able to squeeze the glove and make some great catches the first game he used it in.

Perfect for a serious 7 year old baseball player
Fits my 7 year old grandson perfectly! He loves it!Why did you pick this product vs others?:I picked it because there are very few available mitts for a left handed thrower , plus it was leather and colorful too.

Likely Best Glove for This Price Point, But Only a Decent Quality
This glove gets all kinds of good online reviews and, well, I guess it's not a bad glove. Just remember that, when you get a "youth" glove, it's going to be a youth glove! The one we got said that it was 13 inches and it was like a little kids glove. So, ours didn't fit my 11-year-old, who is a pretty tall kid. The overall quality of the glove is not bad, but it's not great either. Some of the faux leather looked a bit cheap. The padding is adequate. The value for the dollar is very good, I will say that much. You likely can't find a better glove for this price point.

Perfect - no break in required
This glove is perfect for our 5 year old. He has been playing a few seasons and has never felt confident catching balls, especially pop flys. He wasn’t strong enough to close the glove no matter how hard we tried to break it in. Upon opening this glove he played catch for 2 hours straight, not wanting to stop because he was catching so many! His confidence is up and he enjoys playing catch now that there are less dropped balls. He can easily close the glove without any breaking in.
