The grommets in the four corners are made from brass. All brass contains a very small amount of lead. MSR will soon be switching to a different metal so that the Dromedary reservoirs won't need the Prop 65 warning. - The MSR CS Team

Q: Can I use this to store water long term?

If you are talking about long term as in fill it up and set it in the basement somewhere until you need it until a natural disaster hits I would not. The reason being is that air will still permeate the bladder and eventually lead to microbial growth. For long term trips where you will be consuming and refilling the water it's fine as the water is being rotated. That prevents it from going bad or developing a plastic taste. Also you can use them for solids like food protecting it from rodents if needed. An added plus is that when I take these camping or hunting I can toss them in the back of a truck or ATV without worrying about them getting punctured or leaking with other gear on top of it. Whatever you decide make sure you properly treat your water before any long term storage. Municipal water despite being treated is not sterile and will go bad and develop bio-film in about 3 months. I use Aquamira to treat all 8 of my water bricks after I fill them up and they are still fine after a year. I still flush and refill all after a year just to rotate it, but I have one brick that I've left as a test for 5 years now and the water is still good when I check it about ever 6 months.

I would say it would fold to approximately 4"x 4"x4" for the largest size bladder. We generally roll our gear so it rolls to a cylinder shape about 3.5" in diameter x 12" in length.
