Plain gstring means?? G string is not wrapped or coated like lower strings?

EAD(the thicker strings) are wounded.... GBE(the thinner ones) are not. Usually you have wounded strings in acoustic guitar strings set, but you will rarely find them wounded for Electric guitar strings pack.... Ernie ball has jazz series string sets with wounded G, but those packs are of heavy gauge. (Fyi)
