Q: Is this linux compatible?

You rarely encounter someone with a Linux Hand - most hands run on the Sapiens Primate Neuromax (aka Human) OS, and this works very well with that. I think you can get a thin polymer OS emulation glove that you could wear under this glove, and that would translate your Linux Hand code to Human OS, and it would work fine.

Q: Is this to keep anything from activating while the palm is resting on the screen?

Most gloves are designed to help keep anything else from activating on the screen, but it also functions to keep the natural oil from the skin of your hands off of the screen as well. This helps keep the tablet sleek, while allowing you to use your hand comfortably on the surface of the tablet. It also helps to reduce friction, since a lot of people often tend to rest their hand on the screen.

Q: I just color using felt tip pens, markers, and occasionally colored pencils. Will this keep me from smudging the markers?

Absolutely, but still make sure that the marker is slightly dry before moving over it. It'll still smudge wet mediums, but you'd need to use insane pressure to smudge dry markings.
